These are narrow bands of snow caused by north-west winds picking up moisture from Lake Huron. On either side of the streamer, you can have bright sun, but a total whiteout inside.

The real danger point is at the south-east end of the streamer, where it crosses a major multi-lane highway. There will be crashes today for sure.
