In Windows I used adaware, spybot, AVG etc etc
Did not make any difference - Windows is partly infected (by MS). It is just a malware magnet. If you are free of infection - great. Most of the 'solutions' slow the system and are part of the problem (themselves being targeted by the mal-corp) 30% of my time was Operating system maintenance -- which I resented.

In Puppy I turn on the firewall in setup - that's it!
