A vote here for Pizzapup, which I ran happily in 2007-8;

http://www.browserloadofcoolness.com/pu ... 1-info.php

Unfortunately I can't run it or any other 2.14-series derived Puppies on my current machine so I'm mentioning it here in case anyone with a suitable machine wants to try it.

I also have fond memories of BoxPup, which was based on 4 series Puppy but used Openbox as its window manager.
Gigabyte M68MT-52P motherboard, AMD Athlon II X4 630, 5.8 GB of DDR3 RAM and a 250 GB Hitachi hard drive running Ubuntu 16.04.6, MX-19.2, Peppermint 10, PCLinuxOS 20.02, LXLE 18.04.3, Pardus 19.2, exGENT 200119, Bionic Pup 8.0 and Xenial CE 7.5 XL.

I like this idea. It is Puppy-Linux-like.

If I read the (Linux) news, it is all about the latest benchmarking. Why should I always have the last sh*t? This is for teenies.

Unfortunately, with this approch one loses the connection to his requirements. The older the operating system, the less suitable application software is available. But there are heros like Midnight Commander :D

The solution is to give it shelter on a separate device or partition.

This is probably most emotional when it comes to games. There are such wonderful old "primitive" games that have been and remain fascinating.
I use a Lenovo IdeaPad S10-2, built in 2009. I love it. My Slacko 5.7 (32 Bit) is on a 10 GB SD Card. So I can boot it everywhere (Smartphones excluded :P ).

FIVE THOUSAND PUPPIES???

( Where Is the icon for "flabbergasted" ? )

Why bother creating another one, eh? ;)

Some mean people may start thinking that this is beginning to look like pollution...

Hi infromthepound.

Not in the physical sense!

Puppies are creations of the mind, didn't you know?
They do not pooh physically.

So maybe mind pollution? Or intellectual pollution?

He also made a series of Precise releases that were excellent that I used on my old work laptop (it was locked down and against the rules to add stuff, so I'd boot with Puppy for personal stuff and IT department never had a clue).

I'm posting this from Puppy Fire Hydrant Inferno, which I believe was one of Puppyluvr's creations and dates from about 2008. It was based on Puppy 3 series (3.01 in particular).

Obviously the software's old by today's standards but it all still works as far as I can see. Playing videos in Youtube is difficult though, as the browser (Firefox 2.0.0.9) doesn't seem to recognise HTML5, which most Youtube vids nowadays seem to be encoded in. It also won't read the ext4 file system, which is what I use by default.

A worthwhile experiment anyway, and I like the look of it (better in fact than most modern Pups or other distros).

Another good and not very well known one; I'm posting this from Puppy Cielo 5.2, which is based an early version of Wary (5.0) and probably dates from around 2011-12. Again I wasn't able to play Youtube videos, though this time I could access files on an ext4 partition.

The Fire Hydrant series was another of Ttuuxxx masterpieces.

Thanks! Happy to stand corrected (and apologies to Ttuuxxx too).
