One reason i made a version for precise is because there are very few .. if any! official precise.pets in it's PPM..
And that, I just don't get... as I've found Precise to be solid as a rock and can kick some serious @$$! Dang it - more people should be behind it!

So - thanks, 666philb... for being one! :)

updated...

quickpet is now hosted on ibiblio and it's associated mirrors which fixes lots of problems i've been having with 'dropbox'

you'll need to install the .pet attached to the first post to update, as the update button is broken in the old version of quickpet.

Hello again!!!

In the last time, Micro**** has block older version of SKYPE!!.. and only the last one (4.3 at the day i write this) work.

The problem with this version (i read in the forum) is that since this version skype dont support ALSA... only use PULSEAUDIO... and puppy don't.

Can you add a way to install skype in your software??...

i can't :(

(tell me if i am annoying asking that)

Hi Phil. I'm not sure what's causing this error but I can't install firewall-state via Quickpet_precise. I'm using Precise 5.72
(save2dir/frugal install/PAE kernel)

'Error, package firewallstate-2.0.pet failed to install'.
Here's a terminal output:

Code: Select all

# quickpet
cp: cannot stat `/root/firewallstate-2.0.pet': No such file or directory
chmod: cannot access `firewallstate-2.0.pet': No such file or directory
stat: cannot stat `firewallstate-2.0.pet': No such file or directory
expr: syntax error
md5sum: /tmp/petmd5sum: No such file or directory
mv: cannot stat `/root/firewallstate-2.0.pet-TEMPBACKUP': No such file or directory
EXIT="OK"
rm: cannot remove `/root/firewallstate-2.0.pet': No such file or directory
opera: Activated running instance
EXIT="abort"

Quick search through the forum and I found Firewall status tray icon - firewallstate-2.1 topic and I managed to install this version modified by OscarTalks which works just fine.
Looking forward to hear from you and I hope this will help others with the same/similar problem.
Cheers!

Hi Griot, I'm not Phil, but the cause for this error is pretty clear: The download addresses in Quickpet_precise are hard coded, and some are obsolete. This one is.
The file can't be downloaded, hence petget can't install it. This is the contents of the script firewall that Quickpet_precise runs and fails:

Code: Select all

#!/bin/sh
cd /root
rxvt  -e wget http://ftp.nluug.nl/sunsite/distributions/puppylinux/pet_packages-slacko/firewallstate-2.0.pet
petget /root/firewallstate-2.0.pet
rm /root/firewallstate-2.0.pet
When you try above URL in a browser you will see this :cry:

Browsers in quickpet are outdated and not secure to use i suggest updating them,this ones work on precise pups

Slimboat: http://smokey01.com/OscarTalks/slimboat-1.1.53-i386.pet

Tor: http://smokey01.com/OscarTalks/tor-brow ... .3-x86.pet

Firefox: http://smokey01.com/OscarTalks/firefoxE ... .0-x86.pet

Palemoon: http://smokey01.com/OscarTalks/palemoon-25.2.1-i686.pet

Qupzilla: http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 263#799263

Also i suggest adding standalone version of SMtube as alternative for gtk-youtube-viewer: http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=93115

And if you want you can add bluetooth package for precise: http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=95696

Maybe you can add critical security update pack,you can pack together bash,ssl,libgnutls,wget,libc6 and libc-bin into one pet package so new users don't need to search for it in forum

I love puppy "software center" keep it up and running :)
