For practical purposes I'll save the files as you post them, then I'll add everything in the next version within a week at least, to avoid releasing a new version each day. Soon Puppy will be fluent in Italian. :D

Xanad, note that Pwallpaper is a different wallpaper setter used in Precise and other puppies, you can translate it by Momanager producing a .mo file. But Slacko and some puppies do have Nathan Wallpaper Setter, so its translation must be included in the langpack.

Italian langpack

#35 Post by vicmz »

Hello Xanad :D
Wow, you've advanced a lot! I fixed your langpack and put it on the first page. By fixed I mean that for some reason you included +3MB of files at /usr/share/doc and the hunspell English dictionaries, all of them increased the size of the langpack pet to 7MB. I removed those files because they're not needed (they're already in the ISO's). Momanager has a button to build the langpack automatically after you finish editing, I recommend to use it. I also recommend to use this Momanager pet maintained by L18L:

connectwizard : https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bz9e78 ... sp=sharing
pburn : https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bz9e78 ... sp=sharing

I build a new langpack directly from momanager:
langpack_it-20140326 : https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bz9e78 ... sp=sharing
but the directories '/usr/share/doc' and 'hunspell' I found the same. Also if I unpack your last langpack I found them again. Why?

n.b: the link of my iso in the first page is now broken, it's possible change it with the url of my site, avoiding future updates? Thanks again for your job, don't worry I am more and more independent.... :D

link is not broken now

langpack_it-20140326 /usr/local/apps/ROX-Filer/Messages is containing too much not valid for italian:
all es*
why it and different it_IT?
it_IT should be renamed to it I suppose.

It would be really nice to know which version of momanager you are using and if there are any problems.

:)

EDIT
I was having problems with my latest momanager:
usr/local/apps/*/AppInfo.xml did NOT go into langpack, only ok if started fresh.
Next version momanager-20140326 is forcing freshness now.

The new langpack posted to the first page has been cut down to the necessary files, too. Actually, the directory /usr/share/doc should be included only if there are any documentation files translated, or it should contain only the 'nls' folder at most. In your 7 MB langpack you had that full directory, as seen in the screenshot below - I wonder what causes all that files to get into the langpack by mistake. It's nothing that can't be fixed, though.

in that momanager "/tmp/momanager/" is deleted when you start "create a langpack"

You can always delete /tmp/momanager to start fresh. It is just needing more time....

The same mistake has happened to me in the beginning.
Fix it by

Code: Select all

rm /usr/share/sss/doc_strings/doc_strings_it

Thanks for your replies.

@vicmz: for italianpuppy.org I wrote few days ago a little guide for MoManager in italian: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bz9e78 ... sp=sharing
I think that the last .pet is correct, nex time i send you the files .mo and .pet also.

@L18L: another question, when i build a pet from MoMa not all files in LC_Messages are inside. Refresh /tmp? Or unistall the previous langpack?

When I ask you which MoMa then I want to know the version of MoMa.
You get it if you move your mouse over the button about and tell what is coming up in the tooltip,
example: #20140104 or #20140326 or ...?

If the version on that other pc is not #20140326 then you will have just update MoMa to latest version which is from March 26, 2014 ...

If you want a program that translates units I made 'Puppy Units'
so that it could use gettext.
