Huawei Mobile Partner

#1 Post by rg66 »

Finally found Huawei mobile partner for linux. It's slightly modified and tested on X-Slacko only, although it should work on other puppies.

Mobile Partner is for Huawei USB modems. The menu entry is Network > Mobile Partner, the .desktop might need editing for the traditional puppy menu.

To remove properly, go to /usr/local/Modile_Partner/ and run UninstallMobilePartner, then unload the SFS.

I brought it down and tried it on Precise 5.7.1 and it seems to run OK .I can get to create a new profile.

So does your hex reader sfs.

Where would I find some guidance on what mobile phone does and how I use it? I have a huawei phone

Also I don't see a menu entry . Does it have one?

The sfs does not want to remove though .

I also tried VLC and it runs OK but it does not recognise the formats
Codec not supported:
VLC could not decode the format "h264" (H264 - MPEG-4 AVC (part 10))

Is there a codec file I can access to give it all the codecs also?

Not sure about VLC.

Hi, rg66.

Y'know, that's typical..! Up until around a year ago, I was running a Huawei K3565 USB 'dongle' on Vodafone. And it always miffed me that I could do the 'topping-up', and checking the balance, etc, in Whinedoze.....but you couldn't do it in Linux.

I tracked down the Huawei Mobile Partner software, but at the time, couldn't quite see what you were supposed to do with it. It's a moot point now, in any case; a year ago, I went and 'splashed out' nearly £70 (GBP) on a TP-Link mobile 'hot-spot' (following a suggestion from rcrsn51; I went with TP-Link, even though it's dearer, 'cos I've been using their stuff for years....and it just works).....which connects to the network just like a mobile phone on start-up, all automatically. All you need then is a wireless adapter.

Works beautifully, too.

Anyroad, it's nice to see Puppians now have yet another tool in the 'box. Nice one! Well done, mate.

Mike.

@ Mike, I also have a TP-link 3g wireless router, should start using it again but MP is easy for tracking usage.

@ puppytahruser, thanks for testing.
