Database needed ? Kexi ?

The only database by Puppy is dead.
No ? Is there another one ?
use sqliteman instead
Contacts can be managed by OSMO
Modifying the colums titles in osmo.mo makes it quite real.

PPDB is dead

It was only a contact manager. Last post dated 2009.
PPDB seems to be the only database signed Puppy
On the francophone forum, we are searching for one, but PPDB would be sufficient unless we can change the structure. But administrator has gone away.
If somebody could get us access to the structure, it would be fine.
Try it, it's fast, and you will understand.

We can enter only phone numbers !

Charlie, link is dead !

Mushero tried to revitalize it ! Gposil dissapeared. But once upon a time, Puppy had its database. Charlie, do you feel able to do it again. Pelo is a poor lonesome user between developers...
WhoDo was so happy in 2009 ! :
WOW! Now this is something we've needed for a long, long time, Guy! We've had a lash at Tksqlite, portabase and I've even flirted with compiling Glom (a nightmare, believe me)! Most of those who need a database have had to load OOO or K-office to get sbase or kexi! And then you come along with this little gem! What can I say but ... thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!

be happy, don't worry !

Osmo is an intelligent approach to solve a problem! Nice!
May I suggest another one? Most Puppys have the hierarchical notebook program Notecase. I was looking for an alternative to my genealogy programs, something small, fast and simple just for gathering info, and it took me some time to discover that it had been stearing me in the face from the menu for years. It may in many cases fill the function of a dedicated database.

Not all Puppys has the Notecase Help file installed, I have a thread adressing the problem:
Here is the missing Help file for NoteCase

BTW: The first post in all my Notecase bases is named Toggle Ctrl+P, and the text in that post is simply Toggle between tree view and document with Ctrl+P I always forget...

Bonjour Pelo,
Pelo wrote:... Charlie, do you feel able to do it again...
I gave up trying to use PPDB a few months/maybe year(s) ago as PPDB hung up under some circumstances (as far as i good remember).
I am far from being a developper so i can't help doing anything about PPDB.
And for now i have other priorities which prevent me to invest time in going deeper in learning programming (although i had like to ... perhaps once i will retire from job :) ).

Cheers, Charlie

Gnewpet has created again PPDB

Gnewpet has created again PPDB, with my assistance, sure. And a russian Precise Puppy runs it. Why Russian ? because they are there still workmen who need tools for their boss be able to take a glance at what they do.. :)
Charlie says that for now he has other priorities which prevent him to invest time in going deeper in learning programming . So i have. I stopped learning programming 30 years ago, exactly.

Notecase ? Why not ? By TallBoy.

Notecase ? Why not ?
What is omitted is that we are talking of a database Manager. The request is for a Manager
Data are stored in tables, either .csv; .xls, .Dbf or else...
The harder in MS Acess is to combine tables to avoid same info many times in many tables. A clever structure must be done at start, with a paper and a pencil :!:
The second one is to present them in a Gui, or several GUIs.
I admit it's boring to create these GUIS.
Osmo is a GUI, medintux is a gui, distrowatch is a Gui, and so on...
Seamonkey address book too.
In fact, address book should be separetad at least in three table, in the philosophy of database managers Persons, places, and job.
One job including several persons, but being only one record.
The more detailed table would be persons, of course. In the spirit of address book.

Kexi will export only in dbf format.

I append some items to Kexi to-Day. Kexi will export only in dbf format.

Overhaul department uses OSMO as database

At pelo's Studios (père & fils), Overhaul department uses OSMO as technical database for serviceabillity of computers
dell-xps-15-(l502x) to trash : The French Puppy Linux Forum inform that this computer cannot use Ubuntu versions of Puppy Linux.
Task scheduled september 2016
Why OSMO ? because staff is unable to manage Databases, they don't understand how to create structure (The boss think they are to kick out the staff soon !)
