I want to webcast live video/audio from my pc.
I do not want to use RED5 server as it requires dedicated server.
How can i do live streaming using puppy without using any dedicated servers ? Or if at all I have to hire dedicated streaming server are there any free or cheap media servers ?
How can I stream to my mobile ( no multicast just single connection ) ?
What are streaming softwares available in linux ?

This all depends on what exactly you are trying to do. There are options but cost is all about the bandwidth you will use. Video tends to need a lot of it and if you are unicasting from a central server to lots of players then it all multiplies and can become costly.
Have you considered using Ustream or Livestream? These operate peer-to-peer I believe, so you are using other people's upstream bandwidth to "pass it on".
I made a .pet of Icecast server which is here in the forums and does work in Slacko 5.3.3. for audio. I haven't tried video with it but I believe it may have the capability. Shoutcast servers run on Linux and will distribute some video formats. You can run these servers yourself but as I said, the limitation is the bandwidth of your internet connection _________________ Oscar in England
