time zone problem

#1 Post by mgraham »

I set the time zone via the personal settings too to GMT -8
Browsers (SeaMonkey and Opera) say GMT - 8 via javascript:
javascript:alert(new%20Date())
but Command line date says GMT +8 as does desktop clock when you mouse over it.
Is there a way to make them all agree?

time zone problem

Hi mgraham,

I don't know which version of Puppy you are using, and/or why you are having this problem... That said, it appears to me that GMT-8 is equivalent to Los Angeles time zone, and if that is the case, why not use the US/Pacific setting instead and see if that works. I would also check the clock settings in your bios, just to make sure it is correct.

Hope this helps,
Monsie

Using GMT + and - : no :D
But with US/Pacific they all should agree

Many years I have been using GMT -1 which is GMT +1 :wink:
But now I am happy with Europe/Berlin 8)

We need to realize that Puppy have it's own special time standards, while the rest of the world uses the old fashioned ones.

Well a dog's relative time/aging is supposed to be 7 times faster.

Thanks so much.
I don't know why i didn't get notice from your post, but now that i found it, that was the answer. I would not have guessed there was a difference between US/Pacific and -8 GMT.
