No audio for HP dx5150 (Solved) |
|
Want to get it to work in Saluki, but it won't go. Won't work in the frugal install of Puppy 520, either.
I think it is a realtek AC 97 driver.
Any idea?

Hi Steve,
What have you tried so far to get sound to work?

In Saluki and in 520 ran alsaconf and it said I had no pnp yada yada, should it scan for the other audio things? (can't remember exactly what it said, but if you run alsaconf, you probably know what I'm talking about). it said should it try the various options, but that could take a while? I said yes, it said it couldn't find anything.
When I ran it in 520 it did the same thing, but I had to try each one of the ones listed, loading each one. None of them worked.
In other words, it isn't seeing it.
However, I just realized that the onboard audio could be disabled in the BIOS. I inherited this hardware from someone else and that may have been something he did. I will check that later today and post back.

Sounds about right. You can use System > HardInfo to see what is detected.
Audio devices should show on the Summary under mutlimedia ; -)

I have an HP dx5150. Its on-board audio is ATI IXP SB400 AC97. Puppy detects it and uses the atiixp driver. It works fine.

Well, monkey feet..
sure enough, both the lan and audio had been disabled in BIOS. And it was a bit difficult to get to, advanced settings, then a couple layers down, ugh.
Well, it's up and running in Windows. And once I can pry that pc back from the boy, I'll run Saluki and get it running from there.
Thanks all.
