RKWard for puppy?

Does anyone know if there is a live Puppy linux iso available that also contains RKWard which is the R statistics/programing language with a powerful user friendly (supposedly) GUI. Or is there a RKWard *.pet package that will work with Puppy? I currently run Quirky but don't know much about installing prgrams that are not already made for puppy and either a pet file or listed in the package manager.

Thanks,

Jason

Hi jason-g, welcome to the kennels!
You've asked a great question. I really think Puppy would be the ultimate base for all things 'R', including the latest R Guis. I haven't tried RKWard yet - but I will this Christmas break - but I'm pretty sure you would need the KDE libraries. I think the easiest way for you is to find a Precise pupplet that has KDE already installed as a windows manager - say for example, Jejy69's offerings here http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... ba87639b01 or here http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=79810, then download the R pet as L18L suggested. I think you can install RKWard from within R after that.

If the version of Quirky you are using doesn't have KDE windows management and you don't want to stray from your current setup, perhaps you could 1) download the minimum KDE dependencies - maybe this offering from vanchutr would work for you http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=80745, 2) install the R package from PPM, 3) Install RKWard from within R, via the CRAN repositories.

This is the best search engine to use within the Puppy Forums, by the way: http://www.wellminded.com/puppy/pupsearch.html

As an R Tragic, I'd be very interested in finding out how you go - please post back on your progress :)
