Wanting to find out how to configure the firewall in Slacko5.3.3, I went to /usr/share/doc/rc.firwall/rc.firewall.htm, which is a symlink to /usr/share/doc/rc.firewall/index.html.
This file contains a link to http://projectfiles.com/firewall/, which looks as if it has been abandoned, and "may be for sale by its owner".
I wonder how long this has been so? And do we have any documentation for the firewall?
And I assume that this applies to all current Puppies.

Yes, it is even gone from the Web Archive.

But, luckily soon after that, someone grabbed some of it before it disappeared from the Web Archive, and hosted it here: http://www.ledow.org.uk/linux/
Note that most of the links in the various .html pages won't work. You need to use the links on the index page.
Perhaps someone in the Puppy community can also host this before it vanishes again?

The post I linked to as well as the other supplied by tlchost have links in them that no longer exist.
When I supplied the original file, the site still existed as having the info we want.
I have looked for a man page for it and I am just not trusting enough to know if I am getting any info that would help to post links to.
So I will leave it to others.
That also makes me wonder if their is an updated firewall that one can get setup info for as well as plain instructions on each section for those of us that would be lost.

The link you posted works in that it takes you to a source for information.
But...
Most of the links in the html file give an error of 404.
I will continue searching and hope to find a man page that the average user can understand in the options available and an explanation of what each option does.

You're welcome....I am in process of cleaning up the html...as some of the "missing" stuff I have...it's a mtter of pointing to it. I am glad to see the interest in rescuing the docs and how-to's for the firewall.
I have again stumbled across the complete docs and howtos for it.
But I am not efficient enough to be able to get it all into the form of a user friendly file, pet, sfs, or html file that would be downloadable or at least accessable without worry of it disappearing again.

This is a general introduction to manually setting up a firewall on Linux, but be aware that it is a bit dated (it's based on kernel 2.2.13) so some things may have changed since then. The documents specific to the firewall_install.sh script used by Puppy are at tichost's site.
