Chrome and Chromium, weird behaviors

#1 Post by captnemo »

Chromium 19, on Slacko 5.3.3 exhibits the annoying problem of the title bar flickering and flashing while a page is loading. When loading stops, the flickering stops. No other app does this.

So today I installed Chrome 21, hoping it's fixed and it's not. Chrome 21 flickers the same. Even worse, Chrome 21 won't let me type in web page edit boxes. (I can't log in to this forum, for example. Can't type anything in for username / password.) Interestingly, Google stuff works fine. I can log into gmail and it works. But I can't log into this forum.

(I'm using SeaMonkey right now.)

Any clues what might be causing this?

Yes, I believe so. I have an Aspire One and had some video problems which were discussed and fixed in this thread: http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=80846

So I think all is okay in the video department. Only Chrome exhibits the problem I described. The inability to type in edit boxes on the browser is just plain weird.

Installed this Puppy, Slacko 5.3.3, in August and Chromium 19 has always exhibited the flickering title bar problem, but it works fine other than that.

Yesterday I downloaded this pet from a link on the forum:

http://diddywahdiddy.net/Puppy500/googl ... slacko.pet

It's vn 21 of Chrome (not Chromium) and it also exhibits the flickering title bar plus has the problem that edit boxes don't work. Can't type into standard browser edit boxes. However, Google stuff like gmail works fine. Weird.

(I should mention that this is not an emergency. SeaMonkey works fine but it's kind of slow.)

EDIT: I should mention that both Chromium 19 and Chrome 21 are installed.

Hey Nemo- launch it from a shell'n tell us whether any messages show up in the cmd window..

Would you be willing to clean house for a fresh install.. not that a later build'll fix anything?
