mplayer stopped working on Presario 1200

#1 Post by sindi »

Compaq Presario mplayer (375MHz AMD-K6 3D) worked for a few months then
suddenly "cannot open audio device /dev/dsp" "unable to set hw
parameters" same as with my DELL D600 (see a previous posting).

Downloaded xine which does work (as does gxine in puppy 4.3.1). Same
problem with a fresh installation of pulp01. I am guessing something
changed in the hardware that this mplayer cannot handle but xine can.

Should I try a later mplayer than 1.0pre8? Where to look for one?

mplayer problem is in pulp linux

#2 Post by sindi »

This posting was supposed to be in pulp linux, which comes with mplayer.
I had described a similar problem for a DELL Inspiron D600.
Has mplayer refused to work for anyone in another derivative of puppy?
