What works, and doesn't, for you. Be specific, and please include Puppy version.

Precise Puppy actually recognized my Firefly Remote

#1 Post by dancytron »

It automatically recognized my Firefly remote and loaded the module. Puppy has never done that before. Excellent.

Here is what pupscan had.

Manufacturer=X10 WTI
Product=RF receiver
VendorID=0bc7 ProductID=0008 KERNEL-MODULE=ati_remote

With the remote in the text editor, you can type numbers and navigate with the arrow keys. In file manager, the arrow keys work to move around. It doesn't do anything in Mplayer, but at least the remote is talking to the computer.

Is there a config file or utility I can use to assign keys and get it to really work? I searched for lirc* and didn't find anything.

It would mean that I don't have to use XP to use my remote.

Here is the remote. http://www.snapstream.com/products/firefly/ It was also sold under other labels. It isn't IR based. It is Radio Frequency based.

Thanks for all the hard work.

Edit: I found this page with lots of information for Ubuntu. doesn't work yet. http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Snapstream_Firefly

That's actually where I posted the first time. I found some general lirc/remote setting up threads. They all start with "not that easy."

I'll try again later with it.
