How to make a NAS box using Puppy on a SD card?

#1 Post by corinthian »

Hi all.
I'm after a minimum NAS box install if anyone has built such a thing.

The installation will be on an bootable SD card installed via an adaptor on the motherboard IDE interface.

The target machine doesn't have a CD so ideally I need to be able to create the boot card on my XP machine.

It *just* needs to share all installed SATA drives on the network to be accessed from XP, 7 & puppy.
It also needs to share any USB drives that I plug in.

I've been trying a Nas4free project for the last couple of weeks and getting nowhere fast (I can see the drives but can't write to them from my XP machine).

Cheers :)

Look at the Pupserver-435 project.

You can install Puppy on USB or SD card and boot your machine with it.
