Mike, I think you'd be better asking someone that knows something about openssl, I'm pretty clueless when it come to network stuff.

I only know enough to be dangerous, it's trial and error with me, though I can usually fix my problems given time and a lot of reading of post where others have a similar problems.

I really don't understand the problems your having so hopefully someone with the know how will shed some light on it for you.

Code: Select all

ssh -V
Thanks for the ssh -V command.
For your security concerns you may want to have a look at this distro ->
http://distrowatch.com/chromixium
Interesting, but this is a whole operating system, not just a browser. Won't it replace my Carolite-1.2 OS?

Does Chromixium really solve a bunch of security issues (like flash and openssl) that FF and other browsers seem unable to resolve?

Personally, I don't like the whole new world of OS/browser/apps integration that Chromebook has spawned. I feel it is against the concept of freeware.

Okay, thanks, Geoffrey. If I do end up trying out your openssl-1.0.2d, I'll post my results.

Cheers.

Cheers to Geoff for updating the repositories =]

Happy to have found Qupzilla there which now replaces bloated Firefox 41.
Had no luck installing Pale Moon.

Edit:
Updated repo with yad-0.31.2-i486-webkit-version, compiled with support for html browser, it requires the webkit to function.
For those that want the latest without the browser support download yad-0.31.2-i486

I've packaged MasterPDF version 3.4.12 as a sfs, this required new lib files to run in Carolina, to install download the master-pdf-editor-3.4.12_lina.sfs,

then before you install it go to the Controlpanel>Software>Remove builtin packages and remove the old version of MasterPDF.

This package does not contain Qt, as Qt is builtin to Carolina by default.

If you are running Carolite or linalite they don't have Qt, so you can use the package I've made for Wary master-pdf-editor-3.4.12_wary.sfs

I mangled Carolina's desktop

#1778 Post by Pete22 »

Hello Carolina Puppy friends:

I was making a url link for the desktop and my hand slipped.
I don't know what keys I hit, but the desktop blinked 3 times and
then went gray.. Turning the computer off and back on did not help it.

Is there any way to get the desktop to work again?

Pete

PS the task bar still works.

Hi Pete,

That's a bug in xfce, use thunar and delete the launcher you created in the Desktop directory, then restartx,
that will fix it, the problem is that if there is no icon selected causes xfdesktop to Segment fault.

You can try the updates and fixes pet, that will fix that problem and add some enhancements listed here

Very nice splash screen! Kinda retro with the monochrome amber sorta look there. I have to say I like it Very Happy

Alas, this Thinkpad is a very nice Pentium M system and PAE doesn't like Pentium M CPUs. So I will try it (later) on another box -- the very nice Compaq (now there's two words that don't really go together!) desktop I have with 2gb RAM and an AM2 Athlon64 CPU.

No, but I gave my old drum kit away for free to a music store collecting instruments for refugees!

ah version Lina007 has just resized my linasave

#1787 Post by Pelo »

ah version Lina007 has just resized my linasave, Greyhound version failed to resize greysave, that is the reason why i changed for older lina0007 (new for me, never had this Carolina at home before, only Saluki)
Saving to my pendrive is strangely slow. Pendrive can be the cause.. but i will transfer Lina007 to a different one to check if linasave still so slow.

simple scan for Carolina?

#1789 Post by Dromeno »

Hi Carolinians,

I was away for a few years, now my knowledge of carolina is rusty. Could use some help. I am trying to revive an old Asus eee 901. Carolina works great. But I would like to add the ability to use a scanner, is there a version of simplescan http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=59298 which works for Carolina? if not, what is the most sutable alternative?

and: how do I turn of system sounds, like the loud BEEP which Carolina produces when I make a typo.

thanks in advance for usable answers!

That's the printer scanner sfs I've always used, comes with xsane I believe. Haven't needed to scan for some time, but that's what I used.
