I would think that you could grab the source code on github and compile it yourself.

Hard to say, I wasn't involved with Carolina-1.3 so you'd have to look at the change log to see what was updated but probably.

Carolina Full Install

#1717 Post by ckinren »

Hi new to the forum and a relative novice in experience but not in years unfortunately.

Have used Carolina previously, version 1? but at that time was able to do a full install on my netbook asus 1005ha.

Coming back to 1.3 after a bit of trying other distro's I'm getting the same issue as johnywhy raised and Geoffrey confirmed, the option to chose full or frugal install is "missing" with frugal being the only option.

Is there a fix or a easy not to involved workaround available??

thanks

Edited to add - just tried 1.1 and 1.2 and full install option is present on both.
Have used unetbootin in all cases to create bootable usb.

Does this suggest a bug or is it a deliberate omission?

thx for tip!

but, if i try to run from the tar, i get:
daemon not running, use teamviewer --daemon enable
if i run "teamviewer --daemon start" or "teamviewer --daemon enable", i get
Error: Only available if TeamViewer is installed
i can run "tv-setup install", which succeeds, and then i can run teamviewer from carolina menu, but then i still get "not ready, check your connection".

thx

Teamviewer issue

#1722 Post by Pete22 »

I have simular problems with teamviewer ...
with Carolina 1.3 with adrive with an installed sfs.

FYI, Teamviewer works fine on Tahr.

Pete22

ps teamviewer 7 often works when the later versions do not.

pss: I have used teamviewer for more than 5 years. This is the first time it
has not been able to see my internet connection in Puppy.
I mention this in case it was a recent change in Carolina that might have caused this issue

Cannot Connect to Wireless

#1723 Post by johnywhy »

Carolina cannot connect to internet.

This is a fresh Carolina 1.3, no save file. I can see connections on boot, but many are missing as SSID. I try to connect, and fails, and then all available connections disappear.

If i click 'reset interface', the 'enable wireless' checkbox gets unchecked, and nothing happens.

If i then check on the 'enable wireless' checkbox, no connections appear, even if i refresh.

Strangely, i could connect with this distro previously.

My hardware is ok, as i am writing this from Precise puppy connected via same wifi card on same computer.

Appreciate any help.

thx!

Compiled qastools, this is a Qt audio mixer and configuration application can be used to replace the xfce mixer volume control on the panel.

This has lots of configuration options which maybe of some benefit.

Has been added to the repo, find it in the PPM.

Here is a startup script to run the mixer, this starts it in the tray

Optional Puppy Linux or Carolina heading text.

Compiled latest whisker menu, source edited to suit Carolina, looks the same as the old version, the search feature now finds apps in the control panel,.

Thanks to rg66 for the source.

I'll get around to updating the repo soon, at the moment I'm still sorting out XFCE 12 and should have the packages for an upgrade shortly.
Thank you Geoffrey! that`s my request :D

EDIT: Geoffrey, with the Puppy Linux pet installed, the button "Theme Manager" in the whisker was linked to Xlock now, but i changed it easily on the properties in the whisker menu. Only had to erase "xlock" and write "xfce-theme-manager" and that`s it.

I'll fix that, my blunder, must of changed the wrong thing, there where two Xlock commands, one where the theme manager command should of been.

Ah, I found the problem, you need to delete the old whiskermenu-x.rc

Code: Select all

/root/.config/xfce4/panel/whiskermenu-x.rc
then restart x or in the terminal

Code: Select all

xfce4-panel -r
to restart the panel, the new whisker menu properties has a different layout, I'll add a pinstall.sh to remove the old file.

Edit: All fixed, both now delete the old whiskermenu-x.rc
