Here it is attached
it allows you to talk to anybody anywhere in the world in your language while eating your sandwich (but don't speak with "mouth too full")

I have tested with only one translation. This seems to work.
Thank you L18L!

From woof-ce forum:
L18L wrote:Last version of momanager (by L18L) seems to be ok to be integrated in woof-ce.
mavrothal wrote:It might be better to remove it from woof and just add it as a pet instead.
Is not needed for any fundamental OS function. Does it?
I think that BK put it originally in woof because he had no better place for it ;)
Though the fixmenus bit is good speed-wise but brakes the hight adjustment introduced some time ago.
I agree with mavrothal, this will leave us more freedom to change/improve momanager (which is not an application for all users).
In this case, it will be necessary to point out precisely the existence of this package: on the wiki, the forum, etc.
What is your opinion?

fundamental OS function?
If "English only" is fundamental I am no fundamentalist.
woof built puppies and quirkies were so nice because they did contain everything for worldwide use.
momanager was not in devx, in Barry's latest builts there was no devx needed because other "not fundamental" functions (xgettext, msgfmt, etc) were included.

Anyone could immediately start translating for any language.
Is there any other OS where this is possible?

Anyone could immediately start translating for any language.
There seems to be a flaw with LANG=zh_CN and LANG=zh_SG

The mo file can be created but it takes some clever manipulation to get
it to show in Chinese. Instead everything remains in English.

Even mainstream apps such as mtpaint or deadbeef will show only
English menus until forum member 'icake' does his magic.

I made a special page on installing Chinese menus when using LANG=zh_CN

Never got any bug report from China.
So what?
... and the method of producing different language packs for every version of any puppy is ... mh... not for my taste

momanager is not only for creating entire language packs
but also for easy way of sharing single translation files in form of *.tgz

@mavrothal
It is any puppy builder's choice to put momanager from woof into the distro.
Correct me if I am wrong please.

momanager worked well in April64. The refresh button came in handy
when I added a new app. Alphabetical listing is good 8)

The list of fuzzy translations is useful as well.

Thank you, Don.

Yes and in Barry's latest works translators do NOT need devx !

Just to let everyone know about fuzzy:
If you are lazy (who is not  )
you start by just some translations
msgmerge in momanager is trying to find a similiar translation and marks it by the line
#fuzzy
You check the fuzzy lines, change the msgstr and delete the line containing fuzzy.
If you do not delete it then the translation is ignored.
This is much simpler than trying to translate everything in one run.

Launch of Re-edit is easy because it is at line 1 of the combo box.

There is something odd about April64 that I haven't seen with any other
version of Puppy linux. When I use momanager after an installation of a
script with a mo file translation, then the left hand side doesn't show the script in list.

.... but I can get it to appear if I click on the 'Create' button.
Magically it now appears in list. Very strange

I suspect that the gettext utilities aren't behaving the way that momanager expects.

I've tested it twice with fresh installs.

Would be helpful to know what you have tested.

I have tested peasyglue.
Installed from package manager.
Launched momanager.
peasyglue is in left side combo box.

Code: Select all

# cat /etc/issue
Quirky April64 Linux
Linux 3.17.4 [x86_64 arch]

#

Code: Select all

# ls -l $HOME/.packages/peasy*
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 347 Jan 27 14:24 /root/.packages/peasyglue-1.8.files

I've working on translations of creat-m3u and puppy units.

They may have slight flaws inside them that are confusing the gettext utilities. I will investigate further.

For instance create-m3u didn't have the . gettext line for eval_gettext
and puppy units had the LANG=C line perhaps.

Tip for translators:

If you get an error message after you do your translation, such as
'Control character error'

Then the error is probably an unwanted blank space.
For example you should write \n not \ n for a new line.

I tried the newest APril64 again and it opened up the script properly this time
however there was one bug I noticed ---->

The first language that I used with momanager was French.
Then I switched to the Italian language. The heading still stated 'fr'
(see image)
Image

I tried this in another fresh install . I started in English and switched to French and
the heading stated 'en'

Momanager was never supposed to be multilingual I think,

There is a config file.....
fr or fr_CA

change it to your requirements (it or fr) please.

We will have to take the time to look at what it can do.
For my part, it will not be possible before the end of the week.
