How to control CPU temperature in Acer Aspire?

What works, and doesn't, for you. Be specific, and please include Puppy version.

I had trouble on acer that my son briefly owned, it had a critical shutdown in very short order

turned out it had dual graphics, turned one off in bios and problem disappeared

:)
