The reason you are seeing a difference in the 2 distros is how each of them start to desktop.
As you noticed, LightHouse starts you to a user initiation screen, while FATDOG does not do such. The initiation screen is/isn't what's important, rather the planning behind initialization getting you to that start.
Basically, BOTH distro will behave similarly assuming you can tailor each system to recognize your Video adapter properly such that there's greater controls for its ability.
AT least, with LIghtHouse, you are getting a desktop and now need to understand how to get the greatest video performance possible for that MB and multimedia monitor.
I encourage that you also post on either of those threads for additional user input to get what would allow you to achieve the simplicity you are gaining on.
