Pemasu,
Thanks for all the help with the various init scripts. I continue to experiment with them and in 100 (dec) years or so hope to understand them well enough. In the meantime, it proved easier to base my "bank" install on Lucid because it skips the cli wizards. Wheezy remains my everyday os Smile
Regards,
Wognath

I found that my wheezy version of gimp will work on Precise Puppy
as well because of the static compiling of Gegl-Babl.

The last Google Chrome that worked on Squeeze dPup was 25.0, but I'm able to run Chrome 26 thru 30 on Wheezy dPup.

The current stable Chrome (31.0) fails on Debian with missing dependencies, but this is a bug.

The beta Chrome (32.0) installs and runs on Wheezy dPup with no problems.

Woof-CE - Github - Barry`s retirement - comments and ideas popping up....

I have used latest Barry`s woof to build Dpup Wheezy 3.5.2.8. The aim is at last to converge my debian wheezy work as github woof building compatible. I have now tested that woof can build debian wheezy from pure woof platform and the goal is a little nearer. Next would be need of official repo where to upload needed pets to build debian wheezy....and someone should push - merge - whatever my work to github. Yeah...some people thinks it`s me who do that...but that will need first learning to use github correctly.

As side effect of my 2 days working, I created Dpup Wheezy 3.5.2.8.

It uses same old kernel. Latest Barry`s woof as platform. Several apps updated. A lot new nice Puppy applications included to show them. I will continue to present them and I swap the collection. Now it was Peasy Apps and Zigbert`s latest version time. I have updated under the hood binaries so that latest Pburn should work. Radky`s several Puppy apps also included, of course.

If someone complains why my builds include these Puppy apps (they take space), you should remember that those people have spent countless hours while creating them, debugging code and answering to the feedback. Big hand to them.

I create these builds just from fresh Finnish countryside air. No time spent at all.
I quickly scanned through feedback, and I fixed some things. I apologize if there is non-fixed things, my main aim was convert my work as generic woofable build.

And no. I am not going to compile and update to the latest Abiword and Gnumeric.

Anyway...here is this side effect of creating anyone woofable debian wheezy based Dpup Wheezy:

Thanks for the new iso.

I moved the SDHC card to an Acer desktop with an i3 dual core processor,
I had to rerun the network wizard and adjust the sound levels.
Wheezy runs much faster on this pc, videos at cnn don't look like a slideshow Smile

Hello, all.

A false negative on first CD boot with pkeys=cf, but next boot I didn't put it. Second boot, I had to redo the xorgwizard routine. We'll see on 3rd boot.
Aside from that, so far, so good! Smile

Thanks pemasu.

Hello Pemasu,
Thanks for the new Wheezy version. When I boot to ram, there are no issues so far. No problem with zdrv (renamed) . But, when I accept the offer to update my savefile from 3.5.2.7, it boots to quick start, but both mouse and keyboard are frozen. This may be peculiar to my laptop, but I thought I should report it. [Lenovo S12 netbook, VIA Nano processor, manual frugal install on HD, pupmode 13]

Updated a test USB drive with a copy of my 3.5.2.7 to 3.5.2.8 and found the following problems:

On my dell d830 laptop, dual core2, the temperature readings are 30c greater than what it usually runs at, when idle.

The TempIcon utility you provided now 'flashes' at what seems 30 frames/sec, and is annoying.

Using htop, it showed the TempIcon running at 100% cpu utilization, that explains the high temps.
Killed it and now the fan is slowing down to nil.

The 3.5.2.7 save file updated to 3.5.2.8, the desktop reverted back to the original but I guess that's to be expected.

The installed applications (Chrom, Firefox, ...) were still intact, I just needed to redo my desktop icons to as before.

Since the kernel and GLIBC are the same as 3.5.2.7, I see no need to update my production machines.

Satori. That tempicon pet seems like incompatible with jwm-876....or it might be incompatible with something else also. Just my hunch.

When I installed the pet, the temp icon in tray flashes for me also....and my laptop temp starts rising and fan starts whirring.

That 01mickos`s tempicon is not only incompatible, it is also the reason of hotter laptop.

Hmmm....if this winter will be cold in Finland, I can just install that tempicon pet, start tempicon tray app and I can warm my bedroom with laptop. Great !!!

I did another manual frugal install to my emachines d620 laptop.
I installed guvcview in ppm but it was missing one library which I got
at packages.debian.org
The webcam is working now.
Remove the gz from the filename.

EDIT:
I moved from the emachines laptop to a gateway desktop.

Wheezy runs okay on the 2 single core computers that I tested it on
but it runs much faster on dual core and up so that's what I'll use it
on.
Thanks
