They are starting to get rid of some of the extra modules that are no longer maintained or in the case of "language", no longer needed. In fact almost all of the extra modules are on the way out. E will give you a warning when you load any of them. They still work and I am going to keep using the ones we usually provide. ( one of the things I need to do yet is compile those) But I will get there. There is still a ton of work left but here is a little peek at what will become macpup 550.....

Basically Mp550 is finished, It's on the way to Prit's who will upload it and then our buddy's get to play with it . If they like it we go from there. I realize it has been way to long since we had a new release but Lord willing this will be a good one. Here are a few of the new background Agust has made I think LKJ had a hand in them too.

I really think that background would be better with the "megan" theme.

I had a person ask me about this on our forum and I looked into it and it is really cool. I haven't played at igs in a very long time.Long enough for my account to expire ( yes I fix that) But pandanet has a new client and it is really cool.....

http://www.enlightenment.org/ss/display ... 325166.jpg

http://www.enlightenment.org/ss/display ... 549809.jpg

http://www.enlightenment.org/ss/display ... 324518.jpg

Now that is running in MP550 but it should work in 529 too.

First go over to http://pandanet-igs.com/communities/gopanda2
And get the linux 32bit version.Unpack it . Move the icon into the /root/icons folder . Then look in /root/.local its a hidden file.In there make a new folder called bin.Move GoPanda2 nw.pak and libffmpegsum.o.so into /root/.local/bin .Then move the GoPanda2.desktop file into /root/.local/applications. Now open the Gopanda2.desktop file as text and make it look like this:

Code: Select all

[Desktop Entry]
Version=2.1.0
Name=GoPanda2
Comment=Client for the Pandanet-IGS go server
Type=Application
Categories=Game
Icon=/root/icons/GoPanda2.png
Vendor=PandaNet Inc.
Exec=/root/.local/bin/GoPanda2
And you should be good to go. LOL . I am not going to .pet this cause Igs has issues with re-disturbing their stuff. These instruction are macpup specific so you may need to make adjustments for other pups.

Re: Non-PAE MacPup 529

#196 Post by paule »

ProgRob wrote:Like some others on here I have a laptop that needed a non-PAE version of MacPup. So I have created two non-PAE versions of MacPup 529 based on different kernels.

The first is based on kernel 3.2.32 which is the same kernel used in retroPrecise Puppy. You can download the iso from here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/djk1052u6r9d0 ... 3.2.32.iso

As far as I can tell it works just like normal Macpup 529 except that it will run on a processor that does not support PAE. If it works for you then use this version.

However, for me, retroPrecise Puppy won't connect to the internet on the laptop that needed this (due to driver problems). So I also produced a version which used the kernel from Macpup 511 which is kernel 2.6.33.2. You can download this iso from here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/q9vp0gg37ln1u ... 6.33.2.iso

Again, this seems to work fine with the one change that the save file uses a hyphen (-) rather than an underscore (_). Try this if the other version doesn't work.

I'm a bit new to all this so I may have made a mistake in re-engineering these but hopefully they will be useful to people. They seem to run fine for me.

Cheers,
Rob
Hi Rob,

I have downloaded both of these ISO's twice and burned them to disk, but when I try to boot from them I get the "Loading Stage 2...." message then they just hang. I know it is not a hardware issue as other ISO's burn and boot fine. I could really use these NON-PAE distros, so hope this issue can be fixed.

Thanks for the time and attention.

cheers, Paul

It has been a long time without using Macpup 550

#197 Post by Pelo »

It has been a long time without using Macpup. I was deceived bay Macpup 529, PAE is useless either for new computeurs or old tagazous.
There are no applications that need more than 4GB in puppy collection
And PAE prevent Macpup 529 to run them.
I was stolen my Dell D505 on feb 2015, then iI Bought a Medion P7624 wich support PAE (i was ignoring this acronyme)
Reading this morning Macpup Forum, i learn that non Pae versions are available, so i will download one of them.

Time setting Macpup 528 GMT +1 gives 20H05, real time in France is 19H05.
