great stuff, there are a couple issues since upgrading the Wikka software. For example, internal links to non-existent pages don't show the dotted underline.

If you got any queries give me a shout, the style guide may be a good place to start learning the code and general layout http://puppylinux.org/wikka/WikiStyleGuide

And I would not turn down the help! I can almost always be found on freenode IRC (#wikka and #opennic) in the evenings (GMT-5), so feel free to drop by. Alternatively, you can create a new account on the wikka bug tracker (http://wush.net/trac/wikka). Let me know the username you registered with and I'll give you ticket creation/edit perms. I try to do a release every 6 months, and would be more than happy to include new functionality, bug fixes, etc.

This styling was changed with 1.3.3...now non-existent pages are simply marked with a little arrow, rather than being underlined. You should be able to verify this by hovering over the link; you should see a link to the page followed by the /edit handler.

Anything else you come across, feel free to email me and I'll do what I can to get a fix out. Barring a quick fix, I'll add it to the bug tracker for the next release.

Hi Brian,

Ive been taking a break from Puppy and computing. I need to update the bug report since you enable my account.

Thanks for the info. The arrow doesnt show on seed link to non exist page. But we are still on 1.3.2. See page http://puppylinux.org/wikka/SandBox for example.

Also, I notice that the syntax is changed to allow spaces in names, so will need to update our wiki.

Nice one,
Jon = )

Hello everyone! :D
How can I help with the wiki?

login

First step is for you to have an account so you can login. For that, I need your email address which you can give me via PM. I guess you want to keep "vicmz" as username?

@vicmz
It would be great to have more editors ; -) . Once you have an account, you can simply add anything that is missing. If you are unsure making a change. Use the 'comment' button on the page to discuss its contents. This is a good place to start-

@Raffy
Hope your well. Any chance on upgrading Wikka 1.3.2 -> 1.3.3
I've got some bugs to report, but suspect they won't get any attention if its not the latest version. Sorry to request this so soon after last update.

Yes, actually I'd appreciate to keep my username. I have sent a request to your email but I forgot to say my user name. My email is my user name with K instead of C, at myopera dot com.
Thank you guys. I'll start ASAP.

Has the wiki got its own image storage? Many image storage sites close accounts if they aren't active during a certain time.

Oh, this is my first article for the wiki. I'll add more information later. I also modified the Spanish wikka home page to update the information.

Please let me know how I'm doing. :D

You are doing fine
I use photobucket or imageshack for images and use the direct link . . . 8)

Great stuff, if you keep prefixing Spanish pages with 'es'. that will be very useful in the future, when some proper native language function is introduced.

I've added Breadcrumbs at the top, and Category at the bottom on your page:
http://puppylinux.org/wikka/es_Puppy_Linux

As 'espaƱol' is the Spanish homepage it should index the other Spanish pages or indexes. (I've added it to the index category).
http://puppylinux.org/wikka/espanol. BTW you can link internally using [[es Puppy Linux|Puppy Linux]] instead of [[http:://www.puppylinux.org/wikka/es_Puppy_Linux Puppy Linux]]

---

You are the first person to use the new page name format that allows spaces ' '. Unfortunately, these pages don't seem to be fully supported in Wikka 1.3.2. For example the automatically generated Category page thinks your page is a link to 'es' with the text 'Puppy Linux', but really it is a link to es_puppy_linux with no text specified. see
http://puppylinux.org/wikka/CategoryEspanol

Maybe Wikka 1.3.3 has better support for this feature. I will PM Raffy requesting the upgrade.

Note, Wikka is changing the page name convention so for links. Link text is now defined after putting a vertical bar '|' after the page title. For example:-
[[es Puppy Linux|Puppy Linux]] -> Puppy Linux
[[SoftwareIndex|Software]] -> Software

With regard to images-

I tried photobucket but that was slow. I will try imageshack. Ultimately I want to a plugin for wikka that can grab all the images and save to a single location. This will remove reliance on the forum and other websites that change image locations from time to time.

At the moment I am posting images to the forum and linking to them. The links have long urls so it's no that convenient. Here's the thread I'm dumping images at-

I'm using My Opera photo albums, since I have an email account there that I access frequently and the links seem to be fix. But it would be convenient to have a specific location that doesn't depend on how often the owner logs in or on the TOS. I mean, some photo sharing sites force to put a link of the gallery to the photo, would that be OK?

Agreed, short term I'm just using the forum to store images at the moment. Medium term I need to look into how the wikka software can upload images. Long term I plan to write a plugin that copies all the images linked to a single location, once the software works then ask someone for a place to host them.

What precisely do you mean by OK? I think it would be okay to use these types of images on the wiki - but not ideal. It might not in okay in that Wikka may not display these images correctly.

Would that count as advertisement? For example, a link with the name of the image hosting site next to the picture, or clicking the picture leads to the image hosting site.
I agree, the code to embed images in that way seldom seems to be compatible. I embeded a picture from My Opera in this page, and it worked just because puppylinux.info uses the same code, I can't do the same in murga-linux or the wiki.
Anyway, I'll keep on writing and experimenting.

Looks like you sorted link to Opera images. Regard advertising the image host, I cant see this being a problem, but not ideal of course. 8)

Thanks Raffy, will now be able to report bugs to the Wikka project.

For example, non-existent internal links still show the same as good internal links.

Good news is that pages with spaces in their names now work properly when generated in Category pages-
