Understanding BlueTooth ... understanding its use in Puppy

#1 Post by gcmartin »

Blue tooth is one of those technologies that seems to be mastered in Apple and Microsoft OSes. Some of the Linux distributions include this as well.

From an understanding viewpoint I have several questions to might clarify things a little.

Questions
  • If a BT hardware antenna is connected to the system at boot-time, does Linux (really Puppy) somehow knows and incorporates it into the system for subsystem use?
  • Or, is BT a software driven hardware antenna where the system has NO real knowledge and does NOT make the antenna generally available? (This would suggest that all BT's are proprietary)
Thanks in advance for any understanding anyone provides.

I have two blue-tooth dongles. Both are detected by the kernel when they are plugged in, and the appropriate modules are loaded.
