Pupserver full install: no ethernet connection (Solved)

#1 Post by corinthian »

Well that failed.
Or to be more accurate it failed to load the network driver.

My current system:
Asus P5K deluxe wifi motherboard with wifi disabled.
Nvidia GT520 passive video card.
DVD at 80 HDD on the IDE interface.
The SATA drives are unplugged until the base system is running.

Full installation on the first 15GB of the drive.
Installation is the one from the first post (when I finally found a working link on page 6).

The network interface that I am currently trying to use is Realtek 8187.
Incidently this board works 100% in NAS4free.

Oops sorry :)

Pupserver thread, first version (whichever version that is).

Fixed now, disabled Realtek interface and enabled the Marvel one :)

Not using Wifi at the moment and when I do it'll be via the router.

Pupserver-435 is built from an older Puppy that probably doesn't support your wifi. If that is a deal-breaker, you should consider another setup route.

1. Find a Puppy that DOES work with your wifi.

2. Install Samba-TNG or one of the full Samba packages.

3. Customize it to share the desired drives.
