Warning: Unresponsive script...

#1 Post by olewilly »

Hi

Over and over again I get this: Warning: Unresponsive script
That is whether I use firefox or seamonkey.
I am running Puppy 528 on an old Dell Inspiron 2500 with bios dated from may 2001 and only 128 mb ram. And this annoying warning comes over and over again though I tick the option not to do and it slows down surfing a great deal.
Besides from dumping this antiquity any ideas are welcome :?:

OW :D

Willy- try adjusting this: dom.max_script_run_time. Depending on your interests, this may help with speed..

Considering the wide spread over use of client side scripting on the modern internet, you might want to consider disabling javascript completely on that type of system.

Also make sure to run the puppy advert blocker. It will help keep down some of the unneeded garbage from your browser. I've also included, below, a "special list" I made up myself. Add the list to /etc/hosts after running the advert blocker and it might help block some additional garbage (most of these sites are heavily scripted and embeded via iframes in many sites on the web).

Although look at it closely and be careful, it will block a few sites you might use.

Code: Select all

If you use the NoScript addon in FireFox you can create a whitelist, (rather than a blacklist in hosts file).
