Odd problem with Java based app Yed

#1 Post by mgraham »

I have recently started using Yed on other versions of Linux
but I have not gotten it to work right on Puppy. It comes up, but the mouse cann't access the objects (in the panel on the right) to pickup and place on the drawing.
It works in 2 differenct versions of PClos, but I usually work in puppy these days and hate to have to reboot just for that program. It is java based, and I have tried their full package, and the version that only contains the jar, using a java.pet for slacko, and the results are always the same.
I tried Lucid, Wary and Slacko Is there something I am missing?
the software is here.

thanks, mg

Maybe I've misunderstood what you're trying to do but, using lupu, downloaded just the jar version & have no problems dragging objects from the palette to the main window.

Using v1.7.0_07. I also tried v1.6.0_37, from TheAsterisk's thread here, and it was OK as well.

Do you get any errors if you try running from console?

Code: Select all

java -jar yed.jar

It's most likely JWM (later versions) glitch - similar situation was with Hurrican game.

I ran Yed under Openbox and Fluxbox (on Slacko-5.4), and it's fine there.

Strange...if it's only JWM issue it should work at least on Lucid, so there must be something else too...

EDIT:
I tried Yed with JRE-1.7u9, but after Aarf's post: http://puppylinux.info/topic/yed-flow-c ... -made-easy I installed java_jre-6u22-Lucid-sfs4.sfs and Yed started to work normally with JWM on Slacko-5.4.

So it seems that later JAVA + later JWM versions together makes the problem..? :?

I think I get back to 6u22 again, for good.

odd .... it didn't work starting it from the yEd script, so i launched the yed.jar directly and it worked. stranger still, it now works from yEd script ?
