Re: Gnome 3.2 on Puppy ?
Gnome 2.32: yes. Gnome 3.x: NO!Jejy69 wrote:Hi all !

I would just show you this picture that sums up a big possibilty.
For now, only Gnome-shell does not work, but a solution should be found!
I could update many more applications !
Would you agree with this idea?

Confirmed. resizepfile.sh does not write file pupsavresize.txt . I haven't had time to look closely. Can anyone spot the bug?kooliepup wrote: BTW, won't resize a savefile.
It is possible to resize by creating a file pupsavresize.txt and place at /mnt/home.
Inside pupsaveresize.txt put a number, 1024 for each mb to be added.
For example to add 32 mb to savefile size put 32768.
Reboot and it will run the resize routine.

You've done some fine work with 2.3.2. Keep it up with 3.0, don't let others who don't like change discourage your initiative.Jejy69 wrote:Hi all !

If you replace resizepfile.sh with the one from Racy 5.3 it works.Jejy69 wrote:Hi,
I have the same error here ...
No error message yet.
What's weird is that the script works through JWM.
Sorry, this should be in your earlier thread http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 891#640891

Hello !
I do not understand why gnome attracts both barrels, is it the weight? Consumption of memory?
I can understand that many people do not like gnome-shell, but there is no question here ...
@ Terryphi, thank you for the tip, I'll try.

Why is there no LXDE puppy?
...Or Equinox? *Lighter then LXDE*
Why are people trying to introduce lag into the puppy community?
Is that what this puppy will be called? --Laggy pup?*
There's plenty of desktop environments to choose from that are more intuitive and fun to use then Gnome 3, believe me.
...And let me guess, someone will try to make a Unity pup.
...Well Unity 2D? --Ubuntu is killing it off in the next release;
Wait no! I don't want Unity either!

Intuitive and fun for you, not for everyone.Gnuxo wrote:There's plenty of desktop environments to choose from that are more intuitive and fun to use then Gnome 3, believe me.
I think it's good to have choice and I'm sure a vast majority of the Puppy community agrees with me - some like GNOME 3 just as much as you like LXDE and Equinox.
Jejy69 - great work! Have you considered making a MATE Puppy? I began exploring its dependencies, maybe I'll automate the compilation.

Unity ? What is this extremism ?
If it is to give that kind of response, you can refrain yourself ...
What do you mean by lag?
Laggy Puppy ? What's your ?
Seriously, I think you can stop there, because if it is to troll, you can try somewhere else, or you lack common sense ...
If you do not like, I can understand, expressed yourself properly, your opinions intelligently, and give a constructive opinion helpful.

MATE ? Yes, it's an objective, and I must admit I am also tempted by cinnamon. If you succeed, let me know!
Yes, some not ! it begins quite well then, if all services are running.Just a quick basic hardware check......sound,internet and display all correct on initial boot. As I'm sure you know, some things are working....some not. But it's only an Alpha.....

Just made an interesting discovery........ during my first test on the newish quad-core using the "nouveau" driver there was no wallpaper or menu icons but now on my old Athlon XP box with an old Nvidia card using "nv" everything appears normal.Cool.

Oops, I forgot the MD5, sorry ... Thanks James C.
I will put the ISO on another site for a mirror.
You're absolutely right, but I do not know where and who to ask, any help you can give will be welcome.
I'll search, good idea!
@ James C, You have successfully installed the drivers?
Personally, this has not been a success, because he gives me gnome-shell.
Is there a way to return to a Gnome Basic with the drivers installed?

Thanks for your opinion !Hello oldyeller !
I like what you have done with 2.32
I did try and do cinnamon but I really don't know much about compiling.
I like gnome 3 as well it would be great too if this could also be done through woof. Maybe a dev would like to help you do this.
What do you think?
