It's out of date. Which is sad. But for an older system, there's nothing better.
Especially exiting into a tty for a truly full screen writing experience.

It's written in Lua.

I want to compile a .pet of this. But I don't know if someone's already beat me to it.

Indeed an interesting program, even if old.

I believe ttuuxx (of Puppy 2.17 fame) did come up with such a pet a while back.

May I suggest you try a search with "ttuuxx" and "wordgrinder" as the keywords?
