I think Mesa is broken too. After my 5.3.3 cacked itself and I did a clean re-install Mesa failed from the slickpet(?) drivers tab and likewise if I got the pet from ibiblio. Downloads ok but the install fails and sorry I can't remember the error message.

Hi,
The 'Personalize - Settings' application is not properly translated. I made some corrections but was unable to use them in Slacko. Maybe the new .mo file should be in a directory different than /usr/share/locale/es/LC_MESSAGES ?

Thanks, vicmz. Maybe the po file used for the base is outdated. Use the updated one:

On the (u)rxvt, type 'ls /dev' shows yellow character on white background, hard to read.
Made a pet replacing the /root/.Xdefaults.

PupControl |

Radky's most recent PupControl-2.1 seems fine.
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=61961
But i made a small change for the frugalinstaller:
PupControl-2.1.20120706.pet
http://shino.pos.to/party/bridge.cgi?puppy/slacko/opt/
EDIT: PupControl-2.2.pet is now available.

Testing 5.3.3.2 alpha |
|
Fresh manual frugal install to FAT32 USB2 flash. Ext4 save - syslinux 4.04 boot.
Initial boot to desktop with working sound & wired ethernet. Correct res of 1280x1024 with nouveau driver.
Installed T'bird, wallpaper and extra fonts. The following pets were then loaded & tested:
=== /root/.packages/user-installed-packages ===
chromium-19.0.1072.0-slacko|Browse the Web
nvidia-glx-295.59-k3.2.22-4g|NVIDIA Accelerated Linux Graphics Driver
fontwizard|Configure fonts for LCD
flashplayer11-11.2.202.236|Adobe Flash Player 11 browser plugin and Preferences. Note, this may not work on older PCs, use instead an earlier 11.x or even 10.x
tempiconsvg-0.11-i486|temperature monitor
xdotool-2.20110530.1-3|no description provided
faenza_lrx_new|
Blue-Tripack|JWM themes
lxtask-0.1.3-i486|Manage running processes
Roxterm-1.17.1-Lucid|Use the command line with copy & paste
PupClockset-1.9|PupClockset manager
PupControl-2.1|PupControl Panel
PupSnap-1.8_Scrot-0.8_32Bit|PupSnap screen capture
wine-1.5.6-i486_v1|Wine Windows Program Loader
winesmooth|Wine font smoother
tickr-0.6.0-i486|GTK-based highly graphically-customizable Feed Ticker
smplayer_standalone-0.6.9-i686|A great MPlayer front-end
Happy to report no problems. In particular shinobar's Nvidia pet which he produced with his getnvidia-0.5 worked a treat.

artificial bold |
|
Do you know the /etc/fonts/fonts.conf on the slacko has the 'Artificial oblique, so you can remove the file DejaVuSans-Oblique.ttf from /usr/share/fonts/default/TTF?
The fonts-conf-artificial-bold-1.pet replaces the /etc/fonts/fonts.conf to enable also 'Artificial bold', so that you can remove DejaVuSans-Bold.ttf, DejaVuSans-BoldOblique.ttf and DejaVuSans-Oblique.ttf, that is you need only 1 file - DejaVuSans.ttf.
http://shino.pos.to/party/bridge.cgi?puppy/slacko/opt/
Only one problem is the Abiword cannot support Bold nor Italic for Sans and the DejaVu font.
You need to run 3 command to refresh the fomt.dir and fonts.scale after you remove the fonts:
| Code: | # fc-cache -f
# mkfontscale /usr/share/fonts/default/TTF
# mkfontdir /usr/share/fonts/default/TTF |

The Help -> Contents in Gnumeric is not working for me. I don't understand why. The error message is that "yelp" is not present. But as I recall it worked in Lucid from the beginning (before the gvfs fix)--didn't it also work in previous versions of Slacko? And of course Slacko does not use the same gvfs as Lucid--rather Slacko uses a fix to glib, as I understand it. Could this be a compile option? A really dirty hack is to create a file "yelp" that starts defaultbrowser pointed at http://projects.gnome.org/gnumeric/doc/gnumeric.shtml which works but would give a problem if any other program tried to use yelp.
I am afraid I may have forgotten something about how we fixed it in Lucid, but I can't find any preferences or rc files. One program needed "sensible-browser" as a link to defaultbrowser but I think that was Gimp, and Lucid doesn't have it anyway and the Help in Gnumeric still works. Maybe someone knows....

Slacko 5.3.3.2 frugal install + save file to hard drive.
Grub4dos Bootloader has 3 entries:
menu->System
menu->System->System status and Config
menu->Setup
menu->Utility->Icon Browser
This program runs, but does not seem to do anything. What is it suppose to do?

BTW, /usr/share/pixmaps/gnome-player.png. It can be a link to the /usr/share/icons/hicolor/16x16/apps/gnome-player.png, but shall we need the files under /usr/share/icons (1.9MB)?

net-setup-20120707 |
|
The puppy has many network tools and it makes somewhat complex.
We know the issue on the compatibility between network-wizard and the frisbee, but also between the SNS and Networkwizard is a bit complex.
Japanese editions take the Dugal's Networkwizard as the standard, and the SNS and Frisbee optional.
net-setup-20120707.pet has a modified connectwizard that supports easy to install the optional network tools. See the screenshot.
Need to place the optional pets at /usr/local/Frisbee and /usr/local/simple_network_setup. Then the connectwizard finds the optional pets.
net-setup-20120707.pet also has a slight update at /etc/rc.d/rc.network, wait the eth0 interface settles. You also need to modify the /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit to enable this improvement.
net-setup-20120707.pet is available at:
http://shino.pos.to/party/bridge.cgi?puppy/slacko/opt/
rc_sysinit-net-setup.patch, Frisbee_beta-2.4-spup.pet and sns-120324.pet is at:
http://shino.pos.to/party/bridge.cgi?puppy/slacko/misc/
Of course you need to remove all the contents under /usr/local/simple_network_setup to disable SNS. and the file /usr/local/Frisbee_pack1,tar.gz is not usable.

Remastered Slacko |
|
i made a remastered slacko so that you can see how it works.
61ab170d775746c14208d369865aafec slacko-5.3.3.2r1.iso
http://shino.pos.to/party/bridge.cgi?puppy/slacko/remastered/
It is pre-installed all (but before 08-Jul-2012) the PET's here:
http://shino.pos.to/party/bridge.cgi?puppy/slacko/opt/
And some tweeks here:
http://shino.pos.to/party/bridge.cgi?puppy/slacko/misc/
The Live CD has graphical boot menu following the article:
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=61132
Add some but nothing removed from the original. The reason the size is smaller is maybe the difference of the compression.
I guess i can slim it down, the fonts, icons and etc.
EDIT: A mystery for me, some stuff under /root in Extract-makepet-1.0.pet is missing in the remastered.
Recommended to re-install the Extract-makepet-1.0.pet.
Also install new arrived gdmap-right-click-1.pet and transmission-2.51-i486-supx.pet.
