Windowlab

Windowlab is one of my favorite window managers.
It's not particularly configurable unless you build it from source but it's performance is insane.

I've found it faster to use then Fluxbox and it's usability is addicting.
You can quickly toggle window focus, menus and open windows with a right click. That's right, you don't even need left click. You can save your left clicks for the programs your running.

Windowlab is so small, and has so few dependencies that I'm surprised that not many people use it.

The strange yellow color doesn't matter to me. If you build it from source the color can be changed.

...And even though I haven't seen a new version in a few years, I still love this little window manager and I recommend that people try it.

I'd also love to use it on a puppy. Somebody please make a puppy version.

A puppy version? Not sure what you mean - I tried a few compiles (in wary, quirky and finally p431), it does work as stated on the 'site ref'd but to me it seems more of a niche wm for those who really like how it works (it is snappy).

No dotpets but here's a couple archives along with a first-look screenie @66k and another @229k

I rarely make dotpets since
1) I add junk like stuff for plogout (which may or may not suit everyone's wm-o-rama) so an archive lets you pick'n'choose in that case
2) Also you should be aware of files that might be a prob if they overwrite something that currently works on your system and breaks after a dotpet install - at the risk of a small inconvenience some issues can be avoided.

Thanks for at least trying.

I like how it works and it is very fast. It takes a bit getting used to having a limited menu.

I guess I'm just one of those people who love windowlab. I really wish there was a .pet.

Has anyone tried MIWM? I once tried it and I couldn't get used to it at all.
It's as small and fast as it claims though.

I've always wanted to try evilwm but I could never get it to work. I'm not really good at building anything from source either.

the package should work - just not an dotPet form.

place the stuff inside /usr/bin in your /usr/bin folder
do the same for /usr/etc
but the local is at /usr/local
and the man1 stuff go into /usr/share/man1

ctrl + alt +backspace
xwin windowlab
I got it to work -- its OK, But not my cup of tea. 8)
Its fast looks like --Links2 feel?

Post your EvilWM problems here and We might be able to Help a bit. ...
