What works, and doesn't, for you. Be specific, and please include Puppy version.

Progress report on Compaq evo n1015

#1 Post by lockettpots »

Hi All
Complete Linux newbie here again.

Following advice from this forum I installed latest Wary and all seems OK except network connection.
Internet reports no interfaces found. When I used this machine under windows xp I used to connect with network cable not wireless.

Could someone point me in the direction of the next step please. As stated network wizard cannot find an interface.

Is there something I can type into the console to give me more information.

Thanks in advance

John

Does the wireless work under Windows?

And, of course, the cable should work under Linux.

BTW, I was trying to look up this machine. When you say "old", how old do you mean?

I have an Asus eee 900 netbook that runs 5.28 just fine (that machine has 1 GB RAM, also).

The advantage of some of the newer Puppy versions is that the gurus have continuously improved the range of hardware support (networks cards, video, sound).

Here's 5.25 Retro, which will probably run on it (it works on my 333MHz, and supports the PCMCIA wireless card I installed):
