eth0 interface not automatically connecting

Rodger- here's what I think.. Delete BOTH profiles, reboot, except this time when you go for the wizard choose the Network wizard, not simple. Go through eth0 which should show and continue the routine till you're connected. When it asks, and it should, if you'd like to save it as your default config, you OK it.

If she doesn't auto-connect after the next reboot, we're gonna stick a few lines in rc.local.

Let me know whether you've got the firewall activated too, OK..

firewall is off, network connection is starting automatic again. 14 seconds is the sweet spot for the web page to resolve
