Compaq evo n610c (no sound) |
|
Hi there. I recently dug out an old Compaq evo n610c laptop, and decided to install puppy on it. Everything seems to work fine, except the sound. I have tried 3 distros (lucid 5.2.8, wary 5.3, and racy 5.2.2), and the sound works on none of them. I have tried messing around with the alsamixer, and running alsa wizard, but had no luck.
I am hoping someone can give me some tips on things to check, or try. Without sound, the computer is worthless to me for what I intend to use it for.
Not sure why, but the last time I posted this here, it got deleted.
Also, someone in another thread said the card is an ESS Allegro, and is supposed to use the i810 driver.
Thank you for any help you can give.
