Yes, you are right. In slacko64-700 beta I'm using the gutenprint driver of HL2040 Foomatic for my Hl2130 brother laser printer and it works. I did not try other unrecommended gutenprint drivers in xenialpup64.rcrsn51 wrote: However, there are lots of built-in Gutenprint models for Brother that you could have tried instead and avoided using the 32bit official Brother drivers.
How to Install a Printer in Tahr64/Slacko64/Fatdog64
I finally took /usr/bin/foomatic-rip out of Tahr64 and dropped it into Xenial64. It works with my printer and a Brother foomatic-rip model.
All woof builds have the Brother-HL-2040-hl1250.ppd.

rcrsn51,
First, let me thank you for what you do for printing with Puppy.
Any plans to offer this 64BitInstaller-1.0.pet to also work with Xenialpup64?

The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.
When I was a kid I wanted to be older.... This is not what I expected
YaPI(any iso installer)

Xenial64 uses the same basic file structure as Tahr64 - stuff is in /usr/lib.Any plans to offer this 64BitInstaller-1.0.pet to also work with Xenialpup64?
So whether or not a printer can be installed in Xenial64 through 64BitInstaller will depend on whether the 64bit driver is compatible with Xenial - ie. it has the necessary dependencies.
I suspect that Tahr64 print/scan drivers will also work in Xenial, but I don't plan on doing the testing myself.
The builders of 64bit Puppies need to show an interest in this, which they haven't.
I have tested working in xenialpup64 hplip_print_scan_tahr64-3.16.11.pet for my scanner from an all-in-one HP C3190 printer. I don't use it as printer.
I have solved in a new fresh install the problem with my brother laser printer in xenialpup64-7.0.8.4 using foomatic-rip from tahr64 and the gutenprint driver.

You shouldn't have to - that's exactly what 64BitInstaller automatically does for you.watchdog wrote:The scanner works after installing a hplip_print_scan_tahr64-3.16.11.pet with a little workaround: rename the /usr/lib dir inside the package as /usr/lib64.
I will check this.
[Edit] I checked and it works correctly. Did you accidentally click-install the PET?
Networked Epson XP-200
G'day rcrsn51,
Having decided to try a litter of recent 64-bit Pups on a dedicated partition on my desktop, I've got as far as Xenial64-7.0.8.5.
I downloaded and installed your pet then found a 64-bit driver (.deb) on the OpenPrinting page for my Epson XP-200 printer+scanner.
Ran your pet, dragging the .deb file into the dialog box. Told me it was 'Done' after a few seconds.
I was then able to use CUPS to install the printer via its network connection - it is also plugged in via a usb but I prefer the network route being more 'general' for the home network.
The screenshot is the happy result after printing a test page successfully.
I'm not sure if my one-off try with a Xenial Pup is enough for you to add 'xenial64' to the thread title with total confidence .
I'll get onto other 64-bit Pups and also check out the scanner and report as I go.
Thanks for your continued support.

Networked Epson XP-200
G'day rcrsn51,
I can now also confirm your .pet works in slacko64-6.9.6.4 for my Epson XP200 as a network printer.
Same .deb package as driver source, just different browser (firefox in slacko, was palemoon in Xenial64 above) and different Pup button.
I need to find the software for these new-for-me 64-bit Pups that I'm used to in my 32-bit Pups, so it may be a while before I get testing again of your .pet and my printer in other 64-bit Pups.
