JAVA apps for PUPPY run in JRE/JDK/OpenJRE/OpenJDK
Hello @TrolSoft. And WELCOME to Puppy Linux Discussion forum. This is a friendly helpful community that you will right at home in.
You bring an excellent Filemanager to Puppy Linux. As, I have reviewed your site, I can see the expansion in what you have done with muCommander with the releases you've been providing. The bug fixes are impressive as some of the problems I have hit in the past on the old muCommander.
As you product is a fork, you may want to consider a name change to make your offering unique as it evolves.
I am sure, that the Puppy community will rally around you, as this excellent filemanager goes forward.
Puppy Linux has its own package manager and packages are usually offered as PET (the extension of a Puppy package). The PETs are available for distro building (WOOF-CE) as well as via REPOs for download-installations. Ofter time, some developers in this community will maintain a thread exclusively for the discussion of their package. A PET is also installable into a running Puppy distro, outside of the PPM utility, by clicking on it in a filemanager.
At some point, you will consider providing your filemanager as a package for developers who would enclose it in a Puppy distro they build as well as one that a user would find available via the Puppy Package Manager (PPM).
Finally, when a developer creates a PET, there are several Puppy members who maintain sites to assist PET delivery. Others methods that is used by PET developers is their own sites, Google, DropBox, and various others.
Should you desire help, simple create a thread and post a request for guidance.

Thanks, @ gcmartin.
I have change name of my build to trolCommander and start a new forum thread http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 275#790275
Hopefully in the future I will build as well PET-packages.

What about Kangas Sound Editor?
I would like to see this kanga-roo software re-named to:muggins wrote:What about Kangas Sound Editor?
Hang-the-Roo !!!
Explanation:
This needs mysql and the link provided by the installer is linked to a page with a big collection of different mysql packages.
So how should/could anyone know, what mysql package is needed to download?
The mysql packages are sized from a few KB up to several hundred MB - and, of course, this is toooooooooooooo much to download only for testing if one has downloaded the right one, the needed mysql package.
Hang-the-Roo - or at least, put some more useful information into the installer or even into this topic.

Sorry RSH, I missed any reference to mysql. I just downloaded a jar file which ran straight away. After your post i read:This needs mysql and the link provided by the installer is linked to a page with a big collection of different mysql packages.
So I downloaded the install jar that doens't need mysql. I would be interested if you retried it as I know you are a muso, whereas I'm so amusical I couldn't work out how to test it, even with the online tutorial. There are two variants of the program: Kangas Sound Editor which requires MySQL for its database, and Kangas Sound Editor QI which does not (it uses an internal database - HSQLDB - instead).
Hi muggins.
Thanks for the Info.
No, I didn't retry this, though I will do yet.

Edit:
This has worked!
Now need to build a SFS Module of this.

Hello, java-apps thread revivors!
At the bottom of
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... ost#824214
you'll find some screen caps, plus a *.desktop and an icon files, of the
NumericalChameleon-1.6.0.
Although written by German programmer Johann N. Löfflmann, this java app has been
localized in many European languages, including English, of course. You can find it at
http://www.jonelo.de/java/nc/
It has a precision of up to one thousand figures after the decimal point, and "supports
more than 3200 units in 82 categories."
The install package is very well done, so I did not feel the need to create a *.pet
archive. Just make sure the program's "start.sh" script is linked to NumCham.sh in
/usr/bin, otherwise the NumericalChameleon.desktop file won't launch anything.
Johann's doc page is very informative as well, so I'll leave you to it! This one can
replace gMeasures anytime... Have fun converting numbers!

The Alchemy drawing canvas has an intentionally reduced level of functionality. No undo, no selecting, and no editing. Interaction focuses instead on the output of a great number of good, bad, strange and beautiful shapes.

Never used it, since 90s on dial-up, but this site appears to get you started on FreeNet use in Linux/Unix.

This is character map I really like and use a lot.
It is GPL3 so I think that means I can post it here and host it.

and I hosted on my google drive site at

Make a folder for the contents of the zip (as it has no master folder), unpack the files there and click the CharMap4.jar file and it should open the GUI.
I have an old circa 2004 computer (which as I footnote ROCKS! With Puppy! Thanks, Everyone for making that possible!) and on it it takes about 5-10s to open (with JRE 1.
It works great and has a puppyistic interface - clean, straightforward, and does only what I want it to.
-Ciao!
