Desktop Customizing Subject description: icon druthers |
|
Just an easy question about two things. First I like to remove the text from beneath icons on the desktop because I think the display is cleaner without them. This is easy using "Pup Control" except that there are three icons over on the right side of the screen that do not respond. "Trash, Zip and Lock" keep their text no matter what I try. The other item is the floppy drive icon which is there by default and will not go away even though I have no floppy drive.
No, I'm not going to put white out on my monitor mother... so leave me alone about that.
How can I get rid to the text under those three icons and how can I rid my system of the floppy icon permanently?
Thanks to anyone who knows.
TT

Hi,
What happens if you right click on the icons, then hopefully left click on Edit and delete the text?
I can show or hide my Floppy icon, so say which OS you are using, especially if the above doesn't work.
My regards

Like Jasper says.. for floppy unshow, go into eventmanager and untick the relevant item. Agree wholeheartedly with TT about labels - a good icon doesn't need any (and driveicons should only have a popup, imo). Removeable drive/fs/parts will have a label anyhow when they're plugged in or the optical disc is changed, just the way the ui is set up (they can be made static/nolabel, but that's an iffy kludge)
At least with a roxpin you can delete the text in labels and they go away.. ( xfce de)

Go into your BIOS & disable the floppy disc controller.
