Is there a better file manager in PL 5.2.8 than the default one? I miss the Unix tree that enables you to access different directories at once. Thanks.

Xfe has been my number-1 file explorer for a long time now.

It is SUPERB! Cool

And it's included in the Lupu-528.005 PPM. Very Happy

Nah, xfe is merely #1 goto magnificent, imxho Wink - simple/intuitive, great add-ons like xfw and xfv, a lovely fltk ui, easy rcs (edit a few lines to open/mount sfs, 2/3/4fs and whatever other filetypes as you like), no cache penalty for thumbnails and so on .. it's my first addon to any fresh pup

Another one that fills a niche is mc, not quite as intuitive but great in its own console way - even has a fairly extensive help for dummies like me

I installed Xfe and it shows up in the menu below Rox file manager, but it won't launch when I click on it. Any suggestions?

Couldn't find the other file manager listed in this post. Thanks.

1. Run a terminal Window...

2. Type xfe, and hit <Enter>...

3. Read the output...
Will probably warn of missing dependencies.
The Xfe I installed must have had the dependencies included, because my dependency checker lists none missing.

I made this for my Puppy 520 install. You are welcome to download and try it out in 528 if you want to.
