DOWNLOAD

It uses the same compression as FATSLacko, which is just a little more than xz. Firefox Namoroka is from March this year and is current. Flashplayer works with it fine.

Known Issues:
-may be slow to boot on some older gear (< 1GHz processor)
-forgot to mention.. use the Slacko-5.3.3 devx available from ibiblio and mirrors ..link to mirrors

This is the first full featured 99 MB puppy for awhile!

Not at all. I suspect that the majority of users are now installing their printers using manufacturers' drivers. It just means that Mick will need to make a Gutenprint PET available in a repo for people who need it.

just downloaded and the md5 checks out, you must have got a bad down load.. use this command: It says 100M on the smokey repo but not here

May I recommend winMd5Sum Portable - a simple MD5 sum checker that allows you to check and compare the md5 sums of files. It's portable, easy-to-use and quickly installs into the PortableApps.com Menu.

In XP I have a number of portable apps installed just on the C: drive - you do not need the portable apps front end. (see top of pic)
The bottom of the pic shows the T-Slacko ISO being checked with the same app running under wine in Slacko 5.3.3

Nice to offer a small pup. Actually, when you think about it a bit more, this could be the normal pup. And fatslacko the large one.
I am a bit puzzled by the choice of apps. Is seamonkey that much larger than separate firefox(older version) and e-mail. I would expect integrated packages to be efficient.

Could Opera be used ? (replace firefox, e-mail, transmission). Perhaps a 10.5 or so.

Yes, seamonkey is a 21MB pet, was 19 until the configure option "--enable-system-cairo" became unusable because they updated the cairo requirements. .

Seamonkey has Composer (wysiwyg html editor) included though and that's something missing from THINSlacko. Also, there are some CSS issues with firefox-3.6.28, not apparent in all the newer major browsers. HTML5 support is another.


The older firefox is still being developed so that swayed my decision to include it, Opera was an option too but printing from Opera still has issues.

So, there are a number of reasons I stuck with seamonkey in the main version.

I mainly built this for bragging rights.. (99 MB full featured ), still it is a useful pup and some don't like seamonkey.

Mick, I wonder about this Firefox 3.6.28 (Namoroka)

Namoroka maybe is different from standard FF but
on some sites they get very upset if one use FF of 3.6 series.
They want a later version due to security issues with 3.6

What is it about Firefox 3.6.28 (Namoroka) that you prefer it to later versions?

(I prefer FF 3.6.24 myself but that is more due to that one is familiar to me by habit. But sites tells me I ahve to update to later versions)

Simple, the size of the pet. At around firefox-5 and seamonkey-2.4 mozilla started including libxul in their builds and this caused the package size to increase dramatically. Firefox-3.6.28 was released in March this year so is still recent and they do address security issues.

Sure, some sites object, but as stated, I wanted to see if it was still possible to get under that magical 100MB mark and not lose too many features. The main features missing are the gutenprint printer drivers (in PPM) and as said a HTML editor. I do have a Kompozer package I built and I should be uploading it to the repo soon.

Hang on I have only just tested V0.1

It works fine but there is something strange, nay weird going on, as when I checked the T-Slacko ISO that I downloaded yesterday
it gave a totally different but identical sum with GTkhash, portable apps & your new utility. I concluded that I had some how corrupted it or changed it.
Downloading it again & checking gave the correct MD5 across the board. Perhaps Jasper did not have a bad download after all as googling "preventing md5 mismatch errors from compression changes"
seems to indicate a possible problem/cause. I have been unable to replicate it again checking both mounted and unmounted.

Namoroka worked fine for a day and then it wouldn't play videos at
cnn, I have no idea what changed.
I compiled Firefox 12 aka Nightly and Thunderbird 12 aka Earlybird in
Racy and they work in THINSlacko.

THINSlacko is working nice, it can't do certain games like Nexuiz and
Openarena but kdegames is good and after adding a few other
applications it does pretty much everything that I want.

I made pets of the latest XFE file explorer in slacko 531.
It needs the fox-1.6.45-i686.pet installed as well.
If you don't already have Mesa -GLX installed it needs that too, it's
in slickpet under drivers.

XFE is a single or dual pane file explorer which allows file
associations, single click, themes, different font sizes, etc.
