Dell Latitude with DW1530 Wireless-N

#1 Post by markyd68a »

I thought I had better test my Rescue USB stick out on my new corporate laptop ... Slacko did not even recognise the Broadcom NetXtreme 57XX LAN card let alone the DW1530 Wireless-N card. Its Dell Latitude 5420.

In the process of taking Racey for a spin to see if that helps, but does anyone know of a Puppy that works on this hardware and what voodo was required?

Regards,

Your best bet for new hardware is a Puppy with a recent kernel. Look at Upup Precise.

There is a whole thread underneath this one about Broadcom wifi. However, your LAN card should use a standard driver.

Type the command "lspci -nn". Identify the [vendor : product] ID codes for your LAN card and report back.

oh wow, just built an Up-Pup Precise 5.3.3.3 USB boot stick and it works oh so sweet. Wireless and LAN regcognised and that's how I am writing this, never herd of that pup before but definitely going to be a keeper.

I would have assumed Racey would have had the latest kernel as thats it job i.e. Pup for the new kit ... oh well, this one works a treat and in my opinion the best looking pup I have seen for a while. As they say in the West Country ... "Proper Job"
