I tried Shino's suggestion of using the full driver set, and now the wireless works. All I had to do was to download from the link he provided, then moved that zxxxxxx.sfs file into my 431JP frugal folder and reboot.harii4 wrote:Runs like-a-dream besides the wifi thing.
Puppy Linux 431JP returns 2012 (Japanese/English bilingual)
Hi Shinobar,
after I installed 431JP2012 I experienced problems with lost disk space. I do not blame 431JP2012 - I probably did something wrong - but I did end up with damage to my previous installation of 4.3.1 (Barry's original version).
It looks as if my original 4.3.1 became "tangled" with the localisation of the 431JP2012 and this has affected my desktop background and helpfile (maybe other features - I don't know yet).
Anyway, I urge caution if 431JP2012 is being installed alongside a previous 4.3.1 install. Run fsck first, and make sure there is plenty of disk space for new savefile.
Details of my problem here:

Contamination with the original
If your HDD has Puppy 4.x original installed and you want to keep it, run the 431JP2012 with 'RAM only mode', you can find at the 'Advanced menu'.greengeek wrote:Anyway, I urge caution if 431JP2012 is being installed alongside a previous 4.3.1 install.

FYI:
Right after i boot into the fresh install - It losses its background and gives error.
It just an miss setting for Rox - from remastering ?
Just had to reset the background - The .jpg was still there.
So the background problem is unrelated ?
Not an major bug.
ok - I get this in full hard drive install too.told me it cannot find my desktop background image.

Is 4.3.1JP-2012 multi-CPU-core aware? (Or the original 4.3.1JP, for that matter... )
[ Puppy 4.3.1 JP, Frugal install ] * [ XenialPup 7.5, Frugal install ] * [XenialPup 64 7.5, Frugal install] * [ 4GB RAM | 512MB swap ]

multi-CPU-core
They (orginal 431, 431JP, 431JP2012) are all SMP enabled. But it can be disabled with 'nosmp' kernel(boot) option.Makoto wrote:Is 4.3.1JP-2012 multi-CPU-core aware? (Or the original 4.3.1JP, for that matter... )
Some problem?

I'm using what supposedly is a dual-core system for Puppy, now (this one), but I'm not sure whether or not my 4.3.1JP setup is using both cores. I think I was experimenting with the Frequency Scaling Tool for no real reason, and it only seemed to see one core, for example.

Getting rid of the rox pinboard in 431JP2012 is getting the best of me.
Commented out anything with the pinboad in .xinitrc file and it still pops back?
Tried "sleep 16 && rox -p= & " in the startup folder as well and it still comes back.
