I am helping a friend switch over to Linux. I was setting up Puppy on her computer and ran into a couple of problems.
Computer: HP compaq nc8230
Puppy linux 5.2.8
Kernel 2.6.33.2
Here are the problems:
1. Multimedia Keys (ie volume) keys are not working
2. The "click" by tapping on the track pad is not working.
Any thoughts?
Multimedia Keys not working
Re: multimedia.
Jemimah cared about such for her EEEPC so maybe searching
for posts by her can help out? She is into Saluki now and I have
not followed that one so don't know if she has looked into such keys.
I would use the search link I have in my signature

I use Google Search on Puppy Forum
not an ideal solution though

Maybe try Sven.Multimedia Keys (ie volume) keys are not working
Or maybe it is a driver issue...
Do you know a good gtkdialog program? Please post a link here

I don't use a laptop, but I think there are several things that can solve this on different laptops, including:The "click" by tapping on the track pad is not working.
- adding a particular option to Xorg.conf
- manually loading a particular kernel module
Try googling those particular problems for that particular laptop.
