installed 5332 frugal to ext4 hdd pfix=ram. on hp dual 6100 laptop. broadcom wifi auto-recognized on ethh1 and connection made with frisbee without issue.

downloaded ff 11+build 1 from ubuntu-main-precise. not sure just what it is but closest looking thing for ff. works very very fast.

display was easy to correct with xorgwizard.
glxgears works the best, smoothest, have seen.

auto downloaded flash without issue.

which repo are we to use?

everything seems to work so far since you guys have already done the heavy lifting. thanks.

-------

could not get the delta file to work even though have both correct md5sums??

Continuing above post, saved session to a usb stick.Everything persistent including the internet connection.
Appears that the internet connection problems are primarily relegated to full installs.

on setup glipper worked as expected from the menu leaving an icon on the task bar.
after reboot selecting glipper from the menu would not bring it up. using the command line
glipper now come up with expected icon on task bar but only using the
command line.

no error messages so not sure what to check.

----

dmesg does have some errors so included it.

Timezones

#156 Post by vtpup »

I've read more about tzdata and zoneinfo, and we could retain and use this zone data, yet still structure our query as a "What time is it?" type.

Or if we just want to retain the present way of doing things, we should add the ../zoneinfo/America/ folder items to the query dropdown list.

It will be a long one....

But might as well not leave out the "New World".

hehe. Nicely put. :D

Isn't there a way to present this info in sub-menus, such as by continents, or even countries? (We have 5 TZ's in Canada.) Isn't there a model like that somewhere? In Antix? OpenSuse? (Can't remember...)

Simple examples (just thinking out loud):
Americas -> North -> Canada -> Eastern
Europe -> Eastern -> Romania -> Bucarest

BFN.

Dpup Exprimo version 5.X.3.2.7,

Probably the wrong area but I am testing this while I can,.

I have connected with wireless on the Asus Eee PC with Dpup.
Effortlessly in Frisbee.
I had to reffresh the network....
as it oinly saw Telstra.

After the Frisbee network refresh I saw my hidden network.

A no dramas boot.

Encrypted network work flawlessly.

Sound worked from go....best so far..

This has been a Class A stinker 4 wireless.

::::::::::::::::::::::::

Specs from Saluki 019.

No Puppeeee or Fluppy has got this to connect.
I may have seen the encrypted network but this netbook
refused to work in any Puppy till today.

So I'll keep testing a few Pups while I have
this netbook available today.

""""""""

Saluki 019 Frisbee would not see my encrypted network.

Encrypted >> WPA2 >>

I had to add >>>> rt2800pci to network modules.
using the Classic network wizard.
Now it picks up my hidden network.
Not just a Telstra Bigpond network.

:::::

Intel(R) Atom(TM) CPU N270 @ 1.60GHz
Socket Designation: PBGA 437

OK...Saluki reports.

Suddenly realized that I hadn't tried SNS yet so...........booted into Precise,no internet connection. This time used SNS to achieve the connection...... has successfully survived a couple of reboots on the troublesome full install.

Broadcom WL feedback

#161 Post by peebee »

Hi Pemasu

Thanks for this new version.........with Broadcom WL incuded...

Some initial feedback - pristine frugal install on my HP550 laptop

On initial boot, before savefile was created, b43 was loaded and wlan0 created with no mention of wl being tried in dmesg

On reboot with savefile wl was loaded and eth1 created as I would have expected.

However Frisbee is clever enough so that a connection setup on initial boot on wlan0 survives on reboot and transfers to eth1 which is good.

The Connect icon on the desktop however only gives sns and netwiz options - no mention of Frisbee - haven't tested how these cope with wlan0 initially then eth1 subsequently.

I'll send some pmodemdiag output to rerwin to see if he can see why wl isn't loaded on 1st boot. (pmodemdiag gives some errors BTW on precise so may need updating by rerwin).

Not a show stopper but might confuse people I guess....

The Frisbee tray indicator seems to be working correctly with this built-in wl version.....

Cheers

With regard to peebee's comment about no Frisbee relationship to the connect icon.. just grab /usr/sbin/connectwizard and connectwizard_2nd out of Slacko, it's been there since the early days so any version this year should have both files.

Cheers

Volume key binding procedure

#164 Post by vtpup »

I've worked out the correct commands to bind volume up, down and mute keys using xbindkeys-config. The current commands are specified in the amixer man page online. (The old volup, voldown, volmute key binding commands were the problem.)

Example of new key setup for volume down (10% increment) on key Fn + down arrow)

key:

Code: Select all

NoSymbol | m:0x0 + c:174
command

Code: Select all

amixer -c 0 -- set Master playback 10%-

Hmm...the previous amixer - osd_cat code works for me.

And your new amixer code works also...

Hi pemasu

You need to go one level deeper - click on "Wired or Wireless LAN" button to see only sns and netwiz offered as alternatives....

Thanks

Just deleted the old savefile and reinstalled fugal 5.3.3.2 again. I see that now the Americas folder is included in the drop down, so apologies for not seeing that earlier.

Note that SNS is selected so that is proper. Click on Frisbee on that screen and report result.
