How to install puppy on my hp pavilion?

#1 Post by hq »

Please help.

I am trying to install puppy on my laptop, problems:

I can't creat a multisession cd (don't know why but roxio doesn't alow the session not to be closed I can click the option for not closing the session and so puppy does't work at boot up)

So I tryed to burn the non-multisession puppy and error egain it said to copy the pup001 file to the c: drive, I did and again eventually (first try) puppy froze at bootup, now it almost installs (it freezez when It shows the window for choosing keyboard.

(maybe it doesn't freez, maybe my keeboard isn't supported/doesn't work with puppy)

there are some other errors that popup in read when I start up puppy (at bootup) but after puppy seems to install

what could be the problem...?

Thanks for any help

Here's how I burn a multisession Puppy: first I make a regular live Puppy CD with whatever burning program I have available in Windows, then boot the Puppy CD, mount the Windows partition where the Puppy iso is located, and use burniso2cd to make a multisession CD or DVD from the iso.

booting Puppy

#5 Post by ezeze5000 »

I have trouble booting puppy on some older HP CD/RW drives.
I have had several drives that wouldn't boot.
I changed to a different drive and puppy booted ok.

Have you tried another distro to see if it has problems too?
If you have a spare CD rom drive try swapping them.

The only time I have problems booting puppy, is if there are
hardware problems.

I hope this helps.
