How do I make a symlink with Thunar? (Solved)

#1 Post by Mstar »

Can someone explain how to make a symlink using Thunar? I've tried inserting the code from the Saluki thread, and from the web, but it still only copies the original file into the target directory.

Clicking on make symlink in the drop down menu does nothing that I can see.

Thanks

Hi

Think you have to right-click the file or folder -
then select - send to:

Got this information from CatDude just the other day. Press and hold both Ctrl and Shift while you drag and drop into the target directory to create a symlink.

That Works OscarTalks, thanks.

I wonder if they could have made the procedure more obscure, or hidden it better? I doubt it, though.

Hello Mstar

Here are a couple more Thunar Drag and Drop modifiers for you.
  • Shift+Drag: To Move
    Ctrl+Drag: To Copy
