I just heard that Banshee 2.4 was officially released today. Is this new version available for Puppy Linux 5.2.8 yet?

Hello, rmcellig.

I tried the latest ubuntu banshee on my lupu 5.25 retro, from here,
http://launchpadlibrarian.net/98148274/banshee_2.4.0-1ubuntu3_i386.deb
but lupu lacks the necessary mono libraries to run it. Now those are pretty hefty in size, and resources-hungry, which is why they are not included in Puppy.

There are already very good music managers available in Puppy, such as vlc and smplayer. Do a search on those names with the well-minded search engine
http://wellminded.com/puppy/pupsearch.html,
and you should find your profit.

Also, the default gnome-mplayer is quite acceptable. (Why not, eh?) Smile

If you want to explore further, you can have a look at:

I don't know VLC or smplayer, but gnome-mplayer will sure fail when it comes to managing music. - If manage music includes more than browse filesystem and play music...

Gnome-mplayer has playlist mode which could be called ad hoc possibility to manage music. But it is not real music manager...handy though with videos, when you can get the list and play - browse - play for videos.
