Subject description: libreplan PPAs for ubuntu

I downloaded the Lucid 32bit version of the following file (all 62Megs of it!)
libreplan_1.2.2-1_i386.deb
but it would not install.

Their download site is at
http://libreplan.org/download/

I had a look at the on-line manuals at:
http://demo.libreplan.org/libreplan/help/en/index.html
but could not find help there either.

They talk of "Ubuntu PPAs" in their 'automatic' script - details at:
https://launchpad.net/%7Elibreplan/+archive/ppa
This was too complicated for me!

Is there an easy way to convert 'ppa' to the much superior 'pet' package?
Any suggestions on how to install?

I am using PuppyLinux 5.2.8.0004 (it is brilliant!)

Regards,
Rob

Hi Rob, don't get me wrong now.
I am just a curious noob that even
fail to write proper English.

We already have 8-bit as member since 2007
so I got very surprised when I saw another 8BIT

Did you know of him? Do you have this user name on other forum
or did you make it up just for Murga puppy forum?

Maybe it is only me but it is so close to the well known 8-bit
so it is an name that easily get confusing. Just a friendly thought.
8-bit joined the forum already 04 Apr 2007
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=6036

Maybe most people are good at such close names but I have Asperger
and are not so good at keeping you two guys apart. But it is not up to me
to have any view on this I just share my curiosity.

Oops.
I am completely new to puppylinux, and did not know 8-bit was taken.

I obviously must change 8BIT to something else - I am very relaxed as to what I use or am given by the forum.

Is there an easy way of doing this change?

Regards

Thanks,

If neither the Mods nor 8-bit complain then it is all go for you keeping the name
because if I remember right it is not so easy to chaing a user name.

So I guess they will tell you what they think about it.
Could be me being too sensitive to similarities.

Sorry to disrupt the flow of your first post. Hope somebody
give comment on topic too.

Those that make pets are totally volunteer so we have none dedicated
to do such things. It is more out of kindness somebody take time.

Maybe you can excite somebody by telling what it is about Libreplan
that you like and so on.

Subject description: Your member name

Hi 8BIT,
I have no problem with your use of that name.
Since the forum allowed it and did not say the name was taken, feel free to use it!
Your link is wrong though for libreplan.
I think it is http://libreplan.com/. as I got a NOT FOUND error using the org extension.
It looks like an interesting piece of software though.
Installing some alien software packages can be a challenge due to different tree structures in linux among versions.
You have to find what files are installed and where to hopefully get it to work.

I cannot take on making a PET package currently as I currently have a 3.5 gig pupsave file that is pushing it's limits with all the files I have added since I got a renewed interest in Atari computers and modifications of them such as adding a hard drive to a computer with 64 kilobytes of memory and 90 kilobyte 5.25 floppies.
The part that is a challenge is building the interfaces from schematics.
And currently, I am booting the Atari from a disk image stored on a Compac laptop with an interface I built.

I know that tidbit is a bit off topic here, but still interesting.
Some would be amazed at just what one can accomplish with a computer with only 64 kilobytes of memory in this age of computers with many gigabytes of memory.

Oh, and welcome to the forum!
May you find Puppy linux to be the breakout OS you will learn to love.
I have used it as my main OS for many years now with Windows only booted occasionally for updating itself and playing a few Windows specific games.
