How to add an unprivilidged user

#1 Post by hgpuke »

This has probably been answered before, so I apologize, but I could not find the answer by searching the forum. My question is: I don't like the idea of running puppy constantly as "root", so how do I add a normal user, and how do I get that user to login by default when Puppy is booted, or, alternatively, get a graphical login screen where I can choose which user to login?

Thanks, I did, however the only thing I managed to dig out from that excercise was that Puppy uses "tinylogin" which has a command "adduser". So I used adduser to create a new user, but then what? How do I get to select which user to login at boot? I also tried to logout of X (to the prompt), do a "login" with the new users name and then "xwin", but then X complains about /dev/mouse etc being used by someone else (I suppose it is owned by root and inaccessible to a normal user).

So, what do I do next?
