Sub_title: an alternative to gHasher

Hi all,

This little gem of a program comes from the land of Greece. I have been using it on my Debian desktop for several months now, and finally got around to trying it out on Wary. This program is written and compiled in Pascal within the Lazarus Integrated Development Environment. Once downloaded and extracted into its self-contained directories, it is ready to run...

Checksums calculator can be found at: http://www.sinf.gr/en/hashcalc.html and there are downloads for Windows, MacOS, and Linux in both 32 bit and 64 bit flavors. To date, I've only used it in Debian and Wary Puppy.

The download does not include an icon for the executable. Somewhere on the site, there is a link to obtain an icon, but it doesn't quite fit with the program category --in my opinion. Instead, you might want to go here: http://www.iconarchive.com/show/red-orb-alphabet-icons-by-iconarchive/Hash-icon.html and download one of the hash symbol type icons which come in a variety of sizes.

I like Checksums calculator because it is easy to compare the download and reference checksums... and according to the readme file within this little app: "permission is granted to anyone to use this software for any purpose, including commercial applications, and to alter it and redistribute it freely". It also includes support for twenty languages. I think many of you will agree that this utility is worth checking out...

Here is a screenshot of Checksums calculator in use on my Wary desktop.
